Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos is expected to be sworn in on Sept. 26 for another five- year term after his ruling party MPLA'S election victory on Aug. 31, according to a press release from the constitutional court on Saturday.
The swear-in ceremony would be held at the Republic Square, adjacent to Memorial the country's first and late President Antonio Agostinho Neto in downtown Luanda, the press release said.
Also taking oath would be vice president-elect Manuel Vicente, who is second on the list of candidates submitted during the election by the MPLA or the Popular movement for the liberation of Angola.
The ruling MPLA won 4,135,503 votes or 71.84 percent against the largest opposition UNITA with 1,074,565 votes or 18.66 percent, according to the final results announced by the national election commission.
The victory automatically gave the President Jose Eduardo dos Santos another five-year term in office under the new constitution adopted in January 2010. He is also president of MPLA.
