16 people killed in road accidents during New Year celebrations in Laos

VIENTIANE, Jan. 3 (PNA/Xinhua) -- At least 16 people were killed and some 225 others were injured in road accidents during the four days of New Year celebrations, Lao Traffic Police Department said Tuesday.

Only on Dec. 31, 53 road accidents were reported, leaving eight people dead and 97 others injured.

Lao police said road accidents doubled compared with the same period last year, though a number of police officers were stationed at areas prone to road accidents and alcohol checkpoints were set up.

"They attributed the increase in road accidents to the additional days of the celebration this year," said the Lao News Agency on Tuesday. (PNA/Xinhua)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
