The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) kicked off its two-day regional career advocacy congress Monday which was aimed to correct the mismatch in skills and labor market demand.

Managers of Public Employment Services Offices (PESOs) and guidance counselors from Western Visayas will attend the activity which was an offshoot to the national congress held in Manila several months ago.

"The congress aimed to update guidance counselors and PESO officers of the relevant labor market information trends that they can use in the conduct of their career guidance activities,"DOLE regional director Ponciano M. Ligutom said.

“The mismatch in our employment scenario is an indication that many students are taking up courses which are not within their aptitude or are not really the demand of the industries,” he explained.

“As early as elementary or high school children must be already exposed to labor market. We need to inform the teachers and the source of the information,” he stressed.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
