Hon. Simplicio L. Yap Jr.
Hon. Simplicio “Bobong” Yap Jr. was born on October 24, 1946 in Tagbilaran, Bohol. He was a businessman and medical practitioner, a doctor by profession. He founded the well-known City Pharmacy of Tagbilaran. He married Virgilia Lim Yap and had seven children.
Hon. Bobong Yap became a councilor in Tagbilaran City in 1970’s. He also served as Board Member representing the 1st district of Bohol from 1988 to 1992. In Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol, he was a member of the Committee on Money Claims, Committee on Good Governance, Committee on Engineering, Committee on General Resolution and Ordinances, and Committee on Agriculture.
As a provincial legislator, he was the top negotiator on the peace negotiations between the provincial government and Epitacio Ramirez also known as “Kumander Vargas” of the New People’s Army (NPA) during the time of the late Governor Erico B. Aumentado. Hon. Bobong Yap successfully managed the peace negotiations. Later, “Kumander Vargas”, the NPA leader in Central Visayas, surrendered to the authorities.
Afterward, he retired in politics, returned to his profession, and concentrated in his medical practice. He was active in the academe of Bohol Wisdom School for being Chairman of the Board of Trustees in the said school. He was also active in religious and civic organizations in his community.
Hon. Simplicio L. Yap Jr. died on November 27, 2020 at the age of 74.
