LUTGARDO "GARDY" LUZA LABAD
« on: July 25, 2007, 10:58:11 AM »
Mr. Lutgardo "Gardy" Luza Labad of Baclayon, Bohol is an award-winning composer/musical scorer/director (both for film and theater) and well-respected theater director. Since he came home to Bohol, he had created a stir among cultural advocates leading them to pursue stronger advocacies in the preservation, conservation, and promotion of our intangible and tangible cultural heritage. He is also an advocate for our creative industry as a means to uplift the socio-economic well-being of our people.

Sir Gardy is now the chairman of the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council here in Bohol. He has a big heart for local talents molding them to become better artists and thoughtful Boholanos to Bohol.

For more information about him, search the net. There's also an entry about him at the Internet Movie Database, Earth's biggest movie database (imdb.com).

Snowywhite, you're Melrose now?
Perhaps it's to build a monument for an
Edifice that was torn to the ground?
Just as we write plays of events past
We build monuments
         For the young to discover
         For the old to remember

ligiah, i saw the group rehearse karaang balay but never had the chance to watch it kay everytime sila magshow, lakaw pod ko. sayang bitaw uy. i think, there were two sets of actors for the play- one set of young actors and one set of "matured" ones.

jun, as we all know daghan gyud mga artists sa atoa. Sir Gardy's presence gave them the push and support they needed. when you get home, we can all work together. yeaaaaah, bebehh!

definitely junayag... you do not have to worry because there are actually so many bol anons who share the same passion for the arts.

and yeah melrose, there were two sets of actors... but it was memorable. wish more bol anons would patronize the bol anon art. and i wish the boholano youth would take that lead... it would really be great if the youth will engage more on arts than on destructive stuff like booze and whatever else...

That's great, Melrose!
As for El Mundo, I couldn't remember where exactly it was located but I think I caught a glimpse of it when I passed by that place in the daytime from gradeschool.
Boholand--I heard of it, but never been there in its prime.

As for me, I will maintain my username. GEC348 will always be GEC348. But I'm not a geek ;D

LIGIAH: i'll check who the actors are. so i'll know you. hehehehe! you're right.
GEC: It seems dili gyud ka geek. Your posts are witty and funny.
JUN: Wow, I'm excited sa thought na mo-uli na ka. Kanus-a man na?

Yep, yep, yep. there's more to art than aesthetics gayud.  ;)

Nindot tong among giadto sa Dagat-dagatan, Novaliches last year. The village is a relocation area for scatters in Manila. UNFPA helped out in organizing the village to come up with population-health-environment programs. The youth helped out in their advocacies. One way to organize the youth was through the performing arts. They have a dance group and a band, who also writes its own songs about issues concerning the youth like poverty, teenage pregnancies, drug addiction, peer pressures, family problems, gender issues, and others. They have produced 2 albums already.

I hope NGOs, schools, and individuals can also do something like this. Like encourage our local bands to produce songs with depth and value. Dili nang binisayang binastos. no?   8)

performing arts is a diversion to evade juvenile deliquenciies.... we need to establish things nga dunay substance or impact in the community and for their future...

it takes someone who has a noble vision to take the lead...has the perseverance, sufficient resources and support...  one man could not make a miracle, it needs cohesive efforts...

Through this forum, those who are inclined to arts could assist Bohol by providing fresh ideas, resources to our resident artists...  We could initiate this by getting in touch with them and inquire how we could integrate and translate this relationship into something valuable in the community.

Good news to All Artists, Cultural Workers, and Heritage Advocates: The Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Code is ready for its second reading at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. It will be sponsored by the SP Committee Chair for Culture and Arts. The BACH Code is prepared by a group arts and cultural advocates! Great work guys.

The code hopes to protect, promote, and develop the cultural (tangible and intangible) heritage of Bohol.

Hi Ligiah and Melrose,

Gimingaw nako sa atong kanhing panag estorya niining dapita...Few months from now, mouli na ko for good... and I have dreams of creating a circle of artists... composed of singers, dancers, actors, designers, scriptwriters... and all other art forms.  Are you familiar with the UP WITH PEOPLE in the USA? Got some friends from Cebu who were alumni of this movement...they're great people.

I want to develop the talents of the teens to adolescents...giving them the opportunity to enhance and display their craft and at the same time earn for a living though not as a career but part of  lifestyle... In the corporate world, the new bred of successful entrepreneurs are ARTISTS as powerful "DESIGNERS..."  WE ARE THE INNOVATORS....
