Four Boholano military officers earned their status as Brigadier Generals following their recent promotion.
They are Esteban A. Castro (Phil. Air Force) of Anda Bohol; Ramiro Busalanan (PAF); Michael Salvaleon (Phil. Army) of Tagbilaran City and Alejandro Estomo, Sr., (PA) of Panglao, Bohol .

was held March 18 during his assumption of command as the new Wing Commander of the 570th Composite Tactical Wing of the Philippine Air Force based in Palawan. Lt. Gen. Oscar H. Rabena, commanding general of the Phil. Air Force pinned the star on Castro. He was also awarded the Air Force golden wings for becoming a general in the Phil. Air Force.
Brig. Gen. Castro underwent various military courses in his 32 years of service in the Air Force including intelligenceBasic training. He took the International Defense Resource Management course at the United States Naval Post Graduate School in Montery , California in 2001 and Master of Strategic Studies at the U.S. Air War College of Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery , Alabama in 2006. He is also a graduate of the AFP Command and General Staff Course at the AFP CGSC College , Camp Aguinaldo , Quezon City in 2003.
The new Boholano brigadier general took extensive workshops on terrorism in Singapore in 2004.
With the rank of 2nd lieutenant after graduation at the prestigious Philippine Military Academy (Class 1979), he rose to the rank to a full-pledge colonel in 2004.
Gen. Castro is a native of Anda town. He finished his elementary and high school studies in his native town of Anda . He completed his Bachelor of science in electrical engineering at the University San Carlos in Cebu City . He graduated BS Law at St. Louis University , Baguio City and MBA at the University of the Philippines , Baguio City . He earned his Master's in Public Administration at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City.
Gen. Castro is a medalled soldier having earned distinguished awards of service star, military merit and commendation medals including anti-dissident campaign medal and ribbon, the Mindanao-Sulu anti-dissidence long service medal and the Commander's Combat Kagitingan badge.
He is acertified Air Froce pilot having completed training at the Defense Work Study Wing in Bandiana , Victoria , Australia as well as in Villamor Air Force Base in Pasay City . He took pilot assignments in Mactan, Lapu-lapu City , PAF Sasa Airport in Davao City , PAF Lumbia Airport , Cagayan de Oro City and Puerto Princesa City , Palawan where he is currently the Wing Commander of the 570th Composite Tactical Wing of the Phil. Air Force. He is also the concurrent commander, joint Task Froce based in Malampaya Western Command in El Nido, Palawan .
His colorful military service is highlighted when he received the tactical/ group commander of the year award in 2001.
He is married to the former Boholano beauty queen Gerardine Ann Galang (Miss DWCT 1977 and Miss Bohol 1978) with whom he has five children: Stephanie Ann, Raymund Paul, Steve Gerard, Therese Francess Claire and Cecilia.
