Drinking and driving is one of the most important causes of car accidents around the world, the consequences of this type of reckless behavior being often quite tragic. However, even if a real solution to this problem is nowhere in sight, a team from the Frankfurt division of SAATCHI & SAATCHI has come up with a very innovative and interesting way of trying to convince people to take a cab home rather than drive while intoxicated, namely the Piss-Screen.
Developed at the request of the Frankfurt Taxi Service, the Piss-Screen is a system that allows the person using the toilet to play a driving game. It features a pressure-sensitive inlay set within urinals, which allows users to play while they pee, the game itself being displayed on a special screen set above each of the urinals. The game starts as soon as somebody starts using the respective urinal and the player is actually capable of controlling the car's movements whilst relieving himself by simply peeing in the direction in which the car should move.
According to the team that developed this interesting system, the overall design of the driving game resembles quite a lot that of the famous "Need for Speed" franchise, requiring relatively quick reactions. Quite obviously, as the level of alcohol in the body rises, the response speed seriously diminishes, thus proving the player that he's not just "tipsy" but seriously intoxicated.

Regardless of how well the driver managed to steer his ... "vehicle", the game inevitably ends with a shocking crash-sequence, leaving the viewer with little doubt as to the repercussions of driving while drunk. Then, the player is strongly advised to leave his car be and call the Taxi service.
This very interesting anti-drinking and driving system is already at work in several bars around Frankfurt and should you want to find out more about it, as well as view a few very interesting clips regarding the way it's supposed to work and how it was manufactured, take a look at the Piss-Screen webpage.
