In 2016, Elon Musk said SpaceX would go to Mars in 2018 and send humans in the mid-2020s. Both dates have now come and gone.
No SpaceX ships have traveled to Mars — or plan to. When (if ever) do you think Musk will deliver on his promises and get humans to Mars?
For context, in April of 2016, SpaceX tweeted, "Planning to send Dragon to Mars as soon as 2018. Red Dragons will inform overall Mars architecture."
Then in September of 2016, Musk restated this claim and fully unveiled his grand plan for establishing a human settlement on Mars. At the International Astronautical Congress in Mexico, he said he anticipated sending the first humans in the mid 2020s.
While he did acknowledge that the timeline was ambitious and not guaranteed, as we approach 2025, both timelines will have passed. And sadly, SpaceX hasn't sent any ships to Mars — much less humans.
