King Juan Carlos is the very same man that repudiated the Dictator Generalissimo Francisco Franco, who was an ally of the fascist leaders Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

King Juan Carlos, is a beloved man in Spain, so much that Francisco Franco restored the Monarchy after several decades of a Military Government. Many legislative leaders in the Spanish Cortes (the Spanish Parliament) revere King Juan Carlos and refer to him simply as "EL REY", which means,

The King because of his influential power in politics, and culture.

He is beloved not only in Spain itself, but by the French, by the Argentinians, the Chileans, and commands respect from many political leaders in Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Morocco, Columbia and all over the Latin World and in Europe.

King Juan Carlos is the direct descendant of his famous and historical great great great great great great great grandfather, His Majesty Emperor Philip II. This man was the subject of three of my research papers in college, not only as a profound historical figure that commanded the fealty of Western Europe during his time. He also brought to the knees the Kingdoms of France, Austria-Hapsburg and even the Vatican during his power. Emperor Philip II was the very man that the 'Philippines' was named after by Ferdinand Magellan.

Hence, "Las Islas dela Filipinas" or translated as the The Islands of Philip.

The Ancestor and the Descendant look the same and act the same:

Juan Carlos I with his Queen during Coronation

Philip II, the direct ancestor of Juan Carlos I.
