What makes Valencia politics so hot for discussion?
How mature Valencianhons are as "haringlungsod"/electorates?
What keeps the LIM family in the throne?

bisag dugay na ni na post, timely gapun ni kay nagkaduow na ang election. Honestly speaking, way kusgan nga muparang nila in terms of logistics. Nakahinumdum ko sa una, a very intelligent man in the person of Engr Bantol decided to face the dragon pero ill-conceived iyang fight kay sa Manila siya nagstay.

Calle, you know the intricacies and the juices of the entire town of Valencia eh?

:)

The wealth of a man does not define a person. It is his intelligence, whit, and his contribution to society.
How a man stands to his ideals and defends it. That is what makes a man~ a man.

Cheers.

Lorenzo is right as the adage goes, money talks. Sad to say there are persons with political ambitions and honest intentions but the locals are corrupt they sell their votes, so they should not cry if the elected poloticians do not function.

there is only one occassion where the mandate of the people was an overwhelming success, this is in Pampanga in the name of Panlilio.

Nong orencio bantol is a very good man.  He is a good friend of my father although we did not support him in his mayoralty bids.

My father made it clear that our family cannot leave the LIM family and he understood us though he was still hoping until election day that we would defect in his camp.  We did not. But the good thing is that they remain friends.

He is really a good man. He even offered a teaching position so that i will be employed right after grad but I declined because it's not my cup of tea. I'd rather stand and wait for my time during interview other than simply occupying a position in which many are aspiring for. Money really talks. Why not enter politics by Calle? Your brilliance would surely make a difference!

Dango is a distant relative of my father. Pero lako tanto kaila niya mao nga di ko ka comment. Ana man jud ng tawo, there is always a negative side!

he he he, Prof. Jun, kining politiko, game ra jud ni. Pariho ra jud ni sa chess. Each action naay consequence, mao nay we have to watch our moves and play the pawns before making the strategic strike with the major pieces.

Perhaps, in the future, Maluuy ang Ginoo, one of you two or the two of you can even run for politics in Valencia.

I respect the Lim family, no doubt, but I do not believe that they are Valencia. They are part of Valencia. And am sure Valencia will produce more of its sons and daughters to take the reigns of power in the future.

Jun, you are a professor in college. You and Calle are highly qualified. Calle is an attorney.

asenso and development is not measured only by buildings and infrastructures but also sa level sa pagpanginabuhi ug sa kinabuhi itself.
as what I always ask to people, unsa man diay ang sukdanan sa development?  Is it the past or is it what it's should be in today's standard?

Ganahan ko ani. Sakto jud ka!

I literally grow up in Valencia, spendinf days and months every year to live with my grandparents and relatives.  Makita man gud nako if naa bay yearly improvement or wala.  If we say nadevelop, did it cope up with the development that the should be in that stage?  Lisud man gud moingon ta nga develop ug asenso na and is compared to other towns.  As I always say, we can never compare one town to the other but we should always compare a town to what its people needs.

I agree, one should not compare from other town. It should be evaluated against its potential. Did your town reach its potential?

Potential ba kaha sa valencia nga ang mga LIM magtukod ug pantalan with a budget of 1.6 billion, to serve kuno our fishermen, nga sa ilang ihap 280 ra ka buok sa tibook lungsod. valencia is an agricultural town with more than 8000 farmers. unsa man kaha gihimo sa agriculture office ni conching where the man incharge is not even a farmer nor an agriculturist?

if i remember right, sa talibon man siguro to na at one time, pamultahon ang dili motunong sa fiesta celebration.  let's say, ang town fiesta is may then ang barangay fiesta is january. unya magcelebrate ka sa january for the barangay fiesta then dili ka magfiesta sa town fiesta, you'll get fined.

Hello, mga sano. anything new from Junjun and Calle about the powers of the LIMS? who said wala na'y langaw sa adlawan? who said wala na'y baho'ng iti sa canmanico? when the PENRO was told about it, niingon lamang pud nga: naa man na sila environmental clearance. AGREE. pero hibalo ta of the so many in the government service who are corrupt. What makes you sure COnching Lim will win as vice-gov? nagtuo na jud mo nga ang mga botante in the other towns of bohol mga nawong ug kwarta, pareho sa daghang valencianhon? mas maayo na lang kanang mouli aron molansad kay nagpakita pa na sila ug kasibot nga mosilbi sa lungsod, kay gusto nga sa valencia na mopuyo kay nang retire na sa trabaho, ikumpara sa mga naa na nagpuyo sa lungsod nga nagpaka-buta ug nagpaka-bungol sa tinuod nga mga nahitabo tungod sa pagdumala sa mga LIMs.

Got busy with my work lately. Like all of you guys, the good of Valencia is always my concern. For so long, I am identified with the opposition group to the extent that my application to teach in my beloved VHS was denied even if I was ranked no. 1 and the vacancy calls for my specialization. Instead it was given to the brother of Vicky Lim. I was victimized by dirty politics and it motivated me to aspire and expand my wings. My past post would certainly express my political color. But right now I am not energized to take an active part in politics. I have my reasons. I am even on unofficial leave of absence as LLM because I have some cloud of doubts. Politics is everywhere even in the church. Even in the LLM organization, I am the only one on the opposing side but It never stop me from expressing my views. Something good among my brothers in the organization is that they listened to my opinions and suggestions. However, numbers always play a part. Good luck to those who still believe that Valencia can still be recovered from its present state of political tyranny. If my small voice will be heard, I want the SB to be functional and act not as puppets but a real body legitimized by the people's mandate to work for the upliftment of the people's welfare. God bless to all!

sadly, its a dream.how I wish that for a moment, even for just a single time, the Valencianhons will be united, for their good, for our children and their future. With all the poverty and neglect especially on the very poor quality of the network of roads in the kabukiran, the masses are still blind and deaf. It's so disgusting, but it's the reality. Its painful, but its the truth. Truth hurts and I am awaken. When and how, I don't know. I hope its not just a dream!

Tinood ang imong observation, Prof Palaca. It was disappointing that the signing of the Covenant for Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Election (HOPE) in valencia was done in the astrodome, while the signing of the same covenant for the provincial level was done in the Tagbilaran cathedral, and was officiated by no less that the bishop of the diocese, during one sunday mass. According to reliable sources, it was initially agreed by the members of the municipal council of HOPE that the Covenant signing will be held in the parish church during a mass to be celebrated especially for that activity. But it was finally held at the astrodome, kay kuno ang parish priest wala mosugot nga adto sa church. Really? Rev Fr Gibo Ilogon chosed to keep silent on this issue. Sometime not so long ago, Rev. Fr Jun Ligtas organized an all-male choir for the church. Unfortunately, some members of the new group were identified to be from the political opposition, while some are members of administration, since the group was supposedto be non-political, as it was for the chuch. However, after some performances, your LLM President Argeo Salise stopped going along with the group. Later, two other members, Mar Lagat and Teresito Lagare "informed" the group that they were persuaded by the admin leaders to stop thier activities with the choir because they are with people who are from the opposition. Both Lagat and Lagare are Conching boys. However, they defied the "order", unlike Argeo Salise who only sings with the all-male choir when he observe that the opposition men are not around. What a singer he is. Would you believe that f

Initially, the Lims were offering a 200T reward to barangays who will vote straight for their entire slate. Following week, the prize was raised to 400T. In their Canduao Rally last monday, the prize for a barangay who will vote straight and make their slate win is now pegged at 600T. If you are one of their supporters, you are to receive 1T inangayan, and those who are from the opposition who are willing to jump to their group will be receiving a cool 3T, at least. Sadly, the administation still cannot find the explaination why they are prioritizing the construction of a pier right in their front yard, with a budget of 1.6B and another additional 10M, when there are no livelihood projects, no potable water, and dilapidated roads for most of the Valencianhons who are in the barangays.

My God makalipong ni nga info jud, Argeo is a close friend and in fact he visited me in my house sa bukid just to have a drink, we discussed politics but never that he convinced me to jump to his side. Mao jud lagi even the catholic hierarchy is already politicized, saun naman ni run. Yah, i heard nga gsaka nila ang prize, palamuot no, they are proud pa jud in announcing it, dis a daan sa layo pa ang election, nganong wa man gi implement or gdapat ang kwarta para naay tubig ang kabaryuhan. here's one from Bohol's weekly newspaper:

VALENCIA OPPOSITION HARASSED BY ADMIN VICE-GUBERNATORIAL BET

Valencia – The local candidates of the Nacionalista Party finally tasted the wrath of the Administration Vice-Gubernatorial bet known for her public display of anger. This happened when the Olegario-Dango group held their public rally at Barangay Canmanico, Valencia, Bohol whose Barangay Captain is the Hon. Concepcion O Lim, now running for Vice-Governor of Congressman Edgar Chatto under the Lakas-Kampi- CMD.

The public rally was scheduled on the evening of Monday, April 19, 2010 at the barangay’s basketball court. The Olegario-Dango group was initially refused a permit to hold the rally. Allegedly, the honorable Barangay Captain and now candidate for Vice-Governor, Dra Concepcion O.Lim, demanded that the opposition shall put into writing a condition that they will only talk about their platforms of government and shall refrain from discussing in the public rally the issues on how the Lim family is running the local government of Valencia. Lim was a former mayor of Valencia before she was elected as Provincial Board Member for three terms, and now sits as the head of the Barangay Captains league. Dra. Herietta Lim Gan, a favorite niece of Board Member Lim, is the incumbent mayor of Valencia and now challenged by Gen Leo Olegario, AFP (Ret) for the top post of the town.

However, the Permit to hold the public rally was signed and issued by one Teodoro “Dedoy” Gallogo, the barangay’s number one Kagawad, for and in behalf of the Barangay Captain who was not around when Olegario’s group again requested for a permit in the late afternoon of Sunday, April 18. A copy of the permit was submitted to the local COMELEC office the following day, Monday.

In a twist of events, Kagawad Gallogo, together with Barangay Secretary Algerica Coronel, and Barangay Treasurer Letecia Antipala came to see the Olegario group on Monday noon, allegedly on orders by the Barangay Captain, Dra Inday Conching Lim, demanding for the “written condition” initially demanded by Lim. Without the “written condition”, Lim threatened to revoke the permit earlier issued by her first kagawad. However, opposition Vice-Mayoralty bet, Capt Isidro “Boy” Dango prevailed upon the Barangay Captain’s emissaries that it is the Barangay chief’s responsibility to issue the conditions to which the opposition group may follow. Dango is a neighbor of the Lims in Barangay Canmanico.

With the permit to hold the public rally finally secured, the opposition group prepared the basketball court where the rally will be held in the evening. Section 8(d) of COMELEC Resolution no. 8758, dated February 4, 2010, provides that Streamers may be displayed at the site of a public rally five (5) days before and shall be removed within 24 hours after the said rally. However, on or about 3:30 in the  afternoon of Monday, April 19, or about three hours before the start of the rally, Hon Concepcion O Lim, tagging along an unidentified man in civilian clothes, arrived in the barangay basketball court and started removing some of the displayed streamers and posters of candidates running for elective positions in the coming May 10 elections. Displaying her penchant of public display of anger, the Provincial head of Barangay Councils and now Vice-Gubernatorial bet of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD, Dra. Concepcion O Lim, was particularly annoyed at the slogan of the Olegario-Dango slate which calls to “Terminate the Lim Dynasty” in Valencia. She was heard by those who were in the basketball court, howling “Wa mo kasabot unsa ang dynasty. Dili mi dynasty kay we are elected by the people” The Lim family is the occupant of the municipal hall for the past twenty-one (21) years. The honorable member of the Provincial Board was observed to be removing the poster of Gubernatorial bet Julius Caesar Herrera, the incumbent Vice-Governor of the province, while her companion was seen removing the streamers of the Olegario-Dango slate, and that of Atty Dionisio Balite, who is running for a seat in the Provincial Board. After the incident, the honorable board member and her group retracted toward their residence a block away.

A crowd of supporters and sympathizers filled the barangay basketball court and spilled to the National Highway to listen and encourage the Olegario-Dango candidates. Among those who were present to show their support were the town’s former mayors, Atty Nick Namocatcat, Atty. Dionisio Balite and Dr. Plinio N. Lim.

Running for Mayor is Leo L. Olegario, a retired General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, while International Ship Captain, Isidro “Boy” Dango is running for Vice-Mayor. Completing the slate are Lucilo “Eloy” Cagadas, Atty Cesar Cainglet, Albien “Bien” Gamutan, Danilo “Danny G” Gocila, Allan Lagare, Armando “Arman” Namoc, Manuelito “Toto” Pala, and Jose “Joe” Quieta who are all running for seats in the Sangguniang Bayan. The opposition candidates discussed legitimate issues besetting the present administration, some of which are the 1.6 Billion and 10 Million budgets for the pier now constructed near the residences of the Lims, the 18 M Hon Mayor Pablo O Lim Memorial Astrodome, the Hon. Pablo O Lim Memorial High School in Barangay Marawis, the Hon. Wilfredo Lim Jr Memorial Session Hall inside the Municipal Building, the Hon Renato O Lim Memorial ABC Hall, the 20 M loan for the Badiang Springs, and the 4 kilometer pipeline carrying water from Badiang Springs to the swimming pool inside the residential complex of the Lims, affectionately called the Mansion.

At about 10:30 in the evening, Lakas-Kampi-CMD Vice-Gubernatorial bet, Dra Concepcion “Inday” Lim was not yet through with her harassment of the opposition party, as her white Strada parked infront of the Barangay Hall. A barangay tanod was summoned to the vehicle, allegedly carrying the Honorable Board Member. The same barangay watchman, identified as one Fernando Tapitan, went inside the barangay sports center where the opposition was holding its rally, purposely to put off the electric power allegedly upon orders by the Vice-Gubernatorial bet of the administration, in order for the opposition to end their public rally. However, the opposition candidates and the crowd present jirred the barangay tanod, forcing him to backtrack and reported to his boss his failure to follow the instructions. Considering that her tanod failed to carry her instructions, the driver of the white Strada was observed to summon the two policemen who were patrolling the area at that time. However, the policemen were observed leaving the place later. Sensing that her constituents are ready to defy her orders, the white Strada allegedly carrying the barangay chief and now the Vice-Gubernatorial bet of the Administration returned to their Mansion.

The public rally of the local candidates of the Nacionalista Party ended peacefully at about 12 midnite.

What makes Valencia politics so hot for discussion?
How mature Valencianhons are as "haringlungsod"/electorates?
What keeps the LIM family in the throne?

This is a good question. Let the people answer.~

What kept the LIM family in the throne is not by anything bad but by their relentless good service before they were elected as the powers sa Valencia.
