Needing Help Of A Saying/Meaning
« on: April 23, 2010, 09:57:25 PM »
I have heard the term being used by Valencianon friends referring to a beautiful woman as being "Mamerts/ mamurts". What is the literal meaning of this word?

Thanks.

Lorenzo.

ambot unsa etymology ana, basta mamurds combo na na sa gwapa, lamig lawas nya igaton gamay. hahaha

basin diay gikan sa word nga "mamon", a local bread favored by many, next only to pan de sal and pan de bohol, i guess.

Mamord§ - kana bitaw jolen nga ala pihak or kibang, sinaw ug hamis kaayo, mao nay mamords (as comparison)

Dalaga nga hubag ug mamords kana perti ka kinis ang kutis morag porcelana , ala juy piklat
(mao na gamit sa term MAMORDS sa amoa)

That's the meaning i was looking for.

The binol-anon spoken in Valencia (southern bohol) is quite similar to the tonation, and the version of Binisaya spoken in northern mindanao (cagayan de oro, dipolog etc).

I have a friend, 'te, she is a doctora from General Santos (sa mindanao) or as she refers to it as "GEN SAN". I always laugh whenever we talk because the first time i met her she knew i was bol-anon. How did she know?

She said to me, dodong bran, i can tell you are from BOHOL!
I asked her, how did you know?
She then said to me that if you were cebuano you would have sayd "Gyud, Siya, Kaayo"
but instead i used the 'J' kono. "Jyud, Sija, Kaajo"

She made a joke that cracked me up.

How a bol-anon spells Moon.
"M, O, O pa gajud, N dajon!"

hahahaha!

katawa ko jyud.
