The best kind of breakfast served by my Tita Lerma when I was in Valencia was "Tortang Bolinao". Tita Lerma is from Pampangas, so she slightly modified it and added some spices that were common in Pampanga Province. But all the better!

I miss it kaajo na.

Forget infection control...they are good to eat. I would hide from my husband everytime I eat those!

cujo,

your husband isn't used to the effervescent aroma of fried buwad ? lol. my one good friend, a filipino physician, is so fond of fried buwad and eggs that during our lunch breaks at the hosptal, he opens his topper ware and lo and behold-- fried buwad with fried eggs and a ton of rice. he drinks his all-time-favorite coca cola.

i can't help but laugh whenever i see the facial reaction of the african-american nurses and white-american nurses to the smell of the food. its a mix of shock, wonder, and curiosity. but then the filipino nurses respond with comments such as, "oy doc! share naman ang pagkain mo!" hahaha.

To be honest I don't keep those delicacies in my house.A couple of times I have cooked them with the windows open and lives in almost 3 acres land,he still smell it when he gets home.If I have a craving I would ask my friend to gave me one or two already cooked,or sometimes me and my friends ate at a Filipino restaurant... :)

lol haha. your husband has an amazing keen sense of smell then. years ago when i was back in college, i went to an asian supermarket in pittsburgh, pennsylvania with a group of my friends and happened to stumble on a pack of buwad. from the philippines, too. i bought those and some dried squid.

the following morning i had the urge to cook it and so i did. to my filipino senses, the smell of fried buwad and scrambled eggs in the morning was delicious and tantalizing. mouth watering. especially when one eats it with freshly cooked rice and a nice little plate of vinegar with hot peppers dipped inside. delicious.

unfortunately, my 4 white-american room mates did not feel the same. LOL.

my one good friend, bryan, came out of his room to see what was going on and ran to me asking if something died or what. i can never forget his question, "al, what in all things holy is that awful smell? what are you eating?" as soon as he said that, my 3 other room mates came out: rob, don, and phil. i had to explain to them that the smell came from the contents that i had purchased the day before at the asian supermarket in pittsburgh.

their facial expressions were priceless. they did , ultimately, eat on the table with me. tho no one ventured to try the buwad, save bryan. he eventually had a whole buwad and naturally even dipped it in the vinegar. lol.

as for the rest; they don't know what they were missing. ;)

I remember a friend of mine has a friend who lives in a subdivision and she was cooking buwad. Before long a cop was knocking on her door because some neighbor called the cops about something stinks in the air.How embarrassing is that ! :)

Your friend should have invited the cop in. Buwad tastes really good with fried eggs and dipped in vinegar. hehehe.
