lol haha. your husband has an amazing keen sense of smell then. years ago when i was back in college, i went to an asian supermarket in pittsburgh, pennsylvania with a group of my friends and happened to stumble on a pack of buwad. from the philippines, too. i bought those and some dried squid.
the following morning i had the urge to cook it and so i did. to my filipino senses, the smell of fried buwad and scrambled eggs in the morning was delicious and tantalizing. mouth watering. especially when one eats it with freshly cooked rice and a nice little plate of vinegar with hot peppers dipped inside. delicious.
unfortunately, my 4 white-american room mates did not feel the same. LOL.
my one good friend, bryan, came out of his room to see what was going on and ran to me asking if something died or what. i can never forget his question, "al, what in all things holy is that awful smell? what are you eating?" as soon as he said that, my 3 other room mates came out: rob, don, and phil. i had to explain to them that the smell came from the contents that i had purchased the day before at the asian supermarket in pittsburgh.
their facial expressions were priceless. they did , ultimately, eat on the table with me. tho no one ventured to try the buwad, save bryan. he eventually had a whole buwad and naturally even dipped it in the vinegar. lol.
as for the rest; they don't know what they were missing.
