Ubay turns 161 years tomorrow with highlights on the roles of farmers and fisherfolks as the towns has been groomed to be the first agricultural city in the Visayas.
Fiesta organizers adopted the entry of Dr. Maya Tumalon, PhD, Ubay school district supervisor, to be this year’s theme: “Ubay Pinangga ko, kalamboan mo, kab-oton koâ€.
It was chosen during the executive meeting.
The celebration will showcase the products of farmers and fishery sector at he exhibit at the Ramon Magsaysay gymnasium.
A float parade will follow after the mass at Ramon Magsaysay gym.
Mayor Eutiquio Bernales and local officials will lead the ribbon cutting and launching of LGU-initiated programs.
National Government agencies, non-government organizations and peoples organizations also support the events by displaying their best products.
Months earlier, Bernales ordered Municipal Agricultural Officer Nena Alangilan to allocate vegetable seeds for free to farmers who are willing to plant and the products will be displayed in the coming foundation celebration.
During the event, a debate on the topic, “Ubay as an agricultural city†was launched for all secondary level students in the municipality.
Ballgames were also initiated by the Ubay sports commission new president Nonito Nambatac of the 2nd sub-engineering district based in the town.
