TUBIGON, BOHOL. The local government unit of Tubigon in cooperation with Rajah Chris Boxing Promotion, the Bohol American Sports Development and Promotion (BASDAP) and the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) will sponsor a 36-rounds professional bouts and 10 amateur fights featuring a 10-round grudge fight between PBF No.1, RP No.7 Super featherweight Glen Masicampo of Harada Stable, Tagbilaran City versus PBF No. 10 Featherweight Chris Alag of Cagayan de Oro City.
This will be their second fight as Alag is seeking blood as he has a score to settle being outboxed and floored to the canvas during their initial encounter by wily Masicampo, the up-and-coming Boholano sensation.
The encounter is dubbed as "Bout For Glory" as it will feature Bohol's up and coming superstars against selected talents from Cebu and Mindanao.
Matching was done by Joseph Alturas of Rajah Chris Promotion, with the able assistance of ALA stable officials who also promise to assist during the conduct of the bouts.
Fighting this May 12, 2007 starting at 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon will be 10 amateur fights as arranged and supervised by Mr. Nemie Monton, Bohol's ABAP head.
The professional fights will start at 7:30 in the evening, featuring an eight-round 126-pounder fight of Leon Maratas of Cabilao, Loon, Bohol against Ronald Econas of Mandaue City, 110-pounder Romano Gelig of Jagna, Bohol will slug it out in 6 rounds with equally talented Mark John Yap of Cagayan de Oro City.
Another Bohol's sensation, Tiny Tyson, will trade punches in 6 rounds with Nic Banal of Ermita, Cebu City, while Alfredo Balabat of Jagna, Bohol will clash it out in 6 rounds against 128-pounder Romeo Jacosalem.
This fiesta offering is expected to bring back the sports of boxing into the rural limelight unto the grassroots hoping that it can produce ring heroes in the likes of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Rey "Boom-Boom" Bautista.
Tickets for the fight are pegged at very popular prices of Php 50.00 pesos for General Admission and Php 200.00 for special ringside to encourage participation, interest and patronage.
