Rest In Peace David Singmaster (1938-2023).
David was an American-British mathematics professor and was most famous for being an early adopter, pioneer, and enthusiastic promoter of the Rubik's Cube. He also provided the first mathematical introduction and solution of the Rubik’s Cube.
One of his first published solutions was his book Rubik’s Magic Cube (1979), Step by Step solution of Rubik’s “Magic Cube” (1980) and the Cubic Circular Magazine (1981-1985). David's legacy is present with his "Singmaster Notation" used by Cubers around the world today.
David also effectively maintained one of the first international cubing communities and cubing wouldn't quite be the same without him World Cube Association
