BOSTON (PRWEB) DECEMBER 16, 2019

Unruly Studios, a Boston-based EdTech company, today announced a partnership with Wisconsin’s statewide educational purchasing agency (CESA Purchasing) to provide K-12 schools, districts, and libraries in the state with the Unruly Splats STEM learning tool. This partnership will bring the new active play and coding technology to public, private, and charter schools across the state, contributing to the state’s goal to promote STEM and coding technology in schools.

Unruly Splats are programmable devices that light up, make sounds, and sense when they’re stomped on. Students program Splats to create active games using the Unruly block coding app on a tablet or Chromebook, and then play them with their classmates. Students have created hundreds of fun and unique games including relay races, obstacle courses, radioactive whack-a-mole, and 'zombie tag'. Splats combine active play with coding and are designed for students in elementary and middle school for use in any learning space: classrooms, gyms, libraries, innovation labs, maker spaces, and after-school programs.

Bryanne Leeming, Unruly Studios CEO and inventor of Splats, said, “Wisconsin was one of the first states where we had a district-wide rollout of Splats. Seeing this early traction, we knew Wisconsin was an early innovator in STEM education and new learning technologies. I am thrilled to announce this partnership and we can’t wait to see what students in Wisconsin invent with Splats.”

Jane Wray, the statewide Administrator for CESA Purchasing, said, “I’m in love with this product! When I first saw Unruly Splats, I knew immediately that they would be a hit with elementary and middle schools in Wisconsin. Best of all, Splats are very affordable. I love how they combine so many things that the state of Wisconsin is working on like fitness and coding, but they also get the kids interacting with each other and having fun. The pricing model was clearly built with schools in mind and our schools will benefit from the ongoing support they offer to teachers.”

Leeming says her company is focused on providing a premium level of support to make sure teachers are comfortable with the technology. “We don’t just sell a product to a school and walk away. Instead, we offer school plans that include ongoing teacher training programs, just-in-time online support, a lifetime hardware warranty, and an online community where educators can download proven lesson plans and other content and share ideas and resources with other teachers. We consider every school a partner and want to make sure every teacher and classroom is successful with Splats. The reception to our approach has been amazing. Educational service agencies are an important way for a startup company like ours to amplify our message to more educators and administrators and I expect we will be partnering with more statewide organizations in the year ahead, using our partnership with Wisconsin as our model.”
