A decision support tool developed by Clinical Care Options (CCO) has been selected by the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions to be showcased in a meeting recognizing strong work produced by medical education companies at the 45th Annual Conference in San Francisco on January 8, 2020.
The unique tool, “Hep B Consult,” allows users to define a patient case scenario for chronic hepatitis B infection and receive instant management recommendations based on American, European, or Asian Pacific hepatitis B guidelines.
The tool helped clinicians improve their treatment of hepatitis B. After using the tool, many clinicians indicated that they had changed their treatment plan to be consistent with international guidelines on whether to treat and with what to treat.
“This unique education strategy is convenient and effective for clinicians, with more than 8000 cases entered in the first 8 months alone,” said Edward King, MA, Executive Vice President of CCO. “Moreover, using ‘Hep B Consult’ may enable clinicians to improve outcomes for people with chronic HBV infection by helping them make optimal care choices.”
The “Hep B Consult” app was developed by CCO in collaboration with the American Liver Foundation, the Asian Health Foundation, and Practicing Clinicians Exchange and is available as a Web-based tool and as apps for Android and Apple devices at:
