On Saturday, February 1, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., award-winning author Laurel McHargue of Chaffee County Writers Exchange will present a writing workshop on creating a publishable novel.
"My goals are to eliminate the fear of tackling such an important project and to empower storytellers at every stage of their writing development," said McHargue.
McHargue will guide participants through every aspect of creating a publishable novel/novella—from the initial generation of a fertile idea to the nitty-gritty details of populating the metadata. "I've produced and published many times, and will help simplify the process for participants," she said.
After this full-day workshop, participants will know how to:
Generate novel ideas
Understand novel length and genre specification
Organize chapters
Develop story arcs
Develop characters
Research methods for characters and plot
Select Metadata and acquire ISBNs and PCNs
"It will be an action-packed day with time to mingle over a potluck lunch," said McHargue. Participants are reminded to being something to share with all.
"Bring your laptop, paper and pen, and any work in progress," she said, "and if you're not quite there yet, bring an open mind! I'll fill it!"
