It's but natural for any aging person to wear glasses when they feel the need to protect their eyes from the glaring sunlights. The need intensifies when one is a bookworm like most of the US presidents. The eyes of national leaders not only the US presidents have to be kept wide and open while scrutinizing evey important national issues needing vital decisions. Of course they need the reading glass to protect their eyes from constant blinking because the more frequent the eyes blink visualization becomes lesser. If and when visualization becomes lesser, misinterpretations and margin of errors become wider. Leaders couldn't afford to commit serious errors in decision making especially when the fate of one's nation is at stake. While they assume the macro leadership, eyeglasses help them much in doing the micro side of it.
