Barely 2 months after the assassination of environmental activist, Ronald Sendrijas on Jan 17, 2008, these usual “unidentified motorcycle- riding men hiding behind bonnetsâ€, are again on a loose when they abducted woman activist, Regina Olayvar, in broad daylight on March 13, 2008 at around 7:00 A.M.
Regina is currently the Vice- chairperson of Hiniusang Makinasudnong Mag- uuma sa Trinidad- Kababayen- an (HIMAMAT-KA), a municipal peasant women organization affiliated to Hugpong sa Mag- uumang Bol- anon (HUMABOL).
The victim, sister- in law- of Bayan- Bohol Chairperson Victor Olayvar who was slain on Sept. 7, 2006 by still unidentified assassins on board motorcycles, was waiting for a “habal habal†along the highway of Brgy. Cabiguhan, to take her to the “demo farm†of Trinidad town here in Bohol, where she is presently employed as a casual worker under the municipal Department of Agrarian. Suddenly, a blue Aura motorcycle with a male
Thinking that it was a “motorcycle-for- hireâ€, she immediately mounted at the rear of the motorcycle. However, she later on noticed that the driver was taking a different route that was not leading to and already very far away from, the “demo farmâ€. She started asking questions to the driver and started protesting.
Despite her protest however, the driver along with his lady companion, drove her to a very desolate place which she thought was already a part of another barangay. After disembarking from the motorcycle, the driver and the lady, took turns in asking her questions, regarding the whereabouts of John Ruiz (Bayan Muna- Bohol Provincial Coordinator), Carmelo Tabada and Walter Balonga (Deputy Secretary General of HUMABOL- KMP). Regina then noticed that the two guarded her closely and that the driver carried a clutchbag with a handgun in it.
