Ben, did you know that the ancient Bol-anons used to pierce their penis's? It was a form of male machismo, they would take a small bamboo pipe and pierce the penis vis-a-vis a longitudinal cut and the bamboo pipe would be placed in the opening; and retain presence. This was one thing that was observed by Legaspi when he arrived in Bohol. After the entire region was subdued and placed under Spanish ecclesiastical authority, this form of branding and piercing was outlawed outright.
Would you believe there are some guys still doing a similar thing? Recently I learned that an acquiantance of mine had got into a bit of trouble after inserting some kind of seed underneath the skin of his 'banana' (I believe that is the correct TB word for it). It caused a nasty infection. I've also heard that ball bearings and stones are used similarly.
