The Department of Tourism (DOT) here said that foreign nationals are still visiting the country, especially the world-famous Boracay Island despite travel advisories from their home countries.
DOT said that tourists coming from United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) are still visiting despite travel warnings issued by their respective countries recently.
DOT also said that tourists from Australia, Canada and New Zealand are also coming and setting aside warnings from their embassies.
Since January up to October, DOT said that Boracay had 5,441 visitors from Australia, 3,497 from Canada, 398 from New Zealand, UK with 5, 231, and 11, 982
American visitors.
Likewise, Boracay had more than 20 thousand foreign tourist coming from European countries such as France, Germany, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland.
DOT said that this is a good indication that tourists feel safe in visiting the country and that the region experiences peace and security.
DOT is also glad that Asian tourists are still flying in recently. DOT has recorded some 9,164 Koreans, 2271 Chinese, and 4,492 Taiwanese who were in the island for the month of October alone. - PNA
