As one of the Pillars of Hercules in Greek mythology, the Rock of Gibraltar has been instantly recognizable for thousands of years. But for those not geographically oriented, this is the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. In other words you are looking at the Rock of Gibraltar in Spain
Driving west in Andalusia along Spain's new coastal expressway, the A7, not a single road sign mentions the British territory of Gibraltar. You just have to figure out when to exit the highway (at La LÃnea de la Concepción, the Spanish city at the foot of the rock). By the time you see a sign for Gibraltar, you'll be within walking distance.
Aside from the runway-road crossing with stop light controls, I can’t recall ever having seen a picture of Gibraltar from this perspective! Did you know Gibraltar's Airport runway and vehicular traffic crossings are at the same level? I guess no TB member knows:

The Rock of Gibraltar
