Indonesia is home to most of the world's Malay People. Malay people number to about 380- 400 Million. 240 Million of them live in Indonesia, 100 Million of them live in the Philippines, 30 Million in Malaysia and the rest are in parts of southern Thailand and Brunei.
It is in Indonesia , the home base of the Malay people, that rice terraces were implemented. When the Malays from Indonesia migrated to the Philippines , they brought with them the the old dong shan culture of carving rice terraces into the hills, which is seen in the Philippines' Banue Ifugao Rice Terraces.
