It is the common misconception of the ordinary person that all pilots are filthy rich because they take home huge salaries in exchange for working just a few hours each month. Although this may be true in some limited cases, particularly for senior captains who get paid $200,000 or more per year, the truth is that most pilots earn a lot less than people assume. Therefore, if your only reason for wanting to become a pilot is the supposedly massive income, you better stop and think again.
