Panglao Nature Island Resort
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:53:41 AM »
Mike is promoting Bohol. And I'm interested to visit Panglao. I have heard about Panglao Nature Island Resort. How many rooms does this resort have. How much is the cost for each room. i am planning to bring some friends. Will someone please tell me how much it will cost if I occupy the whole resort  for one day. I know the prices are seasonal. Just give me the average approximate amount. Thank you very much.

Not too much. Just enough. But the bad thing is that they did not answer my email. I had to go to the trouble of calling on the phone. I hate it when there is too much hassle. Any suggestions guys. What other resorts can you recommend.

I was also thinking of Anda. But it's too far for me. I want something close to Tagbilaran.

Hey Fortune, If you're planning to reserve the entire resort and money is not an issue try:  http://www.flushingmeadows.com.ph/ in Dauis, Panglao.  I booked my entire family for couple of days with their excellent service, food, pool, and beach, thou the rooms are okay, it was worth every penny.  And if you're lucky, you might be having lunch in the same room with movie stars or politician having lunch or staying for R&R.  It's very private, no hassle and the people who work there are really nice. The sunset view while swimming in there negative edge pool with champaign on hand is to die for.  Give it a try.

I know it's a hassle reserving rooms, especially the entire hotel but it's all worth it, once you are there.  They really response well when I made my reservation but reserve as soon as possible because they are busy during high season.  Good luck!

I took these photos while I was there with my family.

Fortune said: "renting the entire resort" and with possible first class service. You get what you paid for.  Right, $15,000.00/day (in DOLLARS) in a resort is too darn expensive. I can buy a beach for that price in Bohol.   There are other alternatives.

Thank you sea princess. I sent an email to one of the sales agents. Let us see if she will entertain me. Because until now, I havent got any reply to my email at Panglao Island Nature Resort. Everything is relative. $15,000 is good for just 1 suite here in the states. While if you spend it in Bohol, you can have the whole resort. Anyway, I am not in a hurry. For now, I'm just scouting.

Sea Princess,

This is going to be interesting. Mrs. Dy of Flushing meadows was gracious enough to answer my email. So I sent another email to her which I am sharing with you.

Mrs. Dy,-

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Let's just say that I am not in a hurry. I'm still shopping around if you know what I mean. I was kind of hurt that Panglao Nature Island Nature resort did not bother to answer my email. They were my first priority. So I had to call them on the phone to get an idea of how much it will cost me. I hate that kind of hassle. What use is the internet if they will not -a-n-s-w-e-r. . now, just give me your best price if I will occupy your resort for 1 day. By the way, I am a small businessman here in Florida, USA and planning to bring some friends to visit Panglao. And 1 more thing, I own an online travel agency. So give me a reasonable price for your resort, a package discount like what I give my customers when they take a vacation. Then, maybe we can do business together.-

Sea Princess,

Now I know what you mean what a hassle it is to reserve rooms. So I am sharing this with you

In a message dated 2/15/2008 3:27:17 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes:
Different rooms have different rates so please refer to the rate sheet.

I answered

Oh my GOD. Do you understand english. You make me feel stupid. I know that different rooms have different rates. If you were my employee, I would fire you. I did not ask for room rates. I am not reserving one room. I want to occupy the whole resort. Now please tell me how many rooms you have in all. And give me the total price of all the rooms. If you don't know your math, then don't bother answering me.

I know I am being rude. But she made me feel so stupid. I made it clear to her that I want to reserve the whole resort not just one room. Was I right to send her this reply?

Fortune,

Sakto tong imong email nila. Pero siguro wa gyod sila makasabot nga whole resort imong abangan. Imo unta gicapital ang word nga "WHOLE RESORT".
Morag wa pa siguro sila maka sulay nga dunay mirent sa ilang whole resort.

I also read a lot of negative commentsabout  Nature island resort. One american tourist even sweared that he will never return to that place anymore.

Mahal daw kaayo unya not good service. Unya istrikto pa kaayo.

Ang flushing meadows nindot gyod. Nakaadto nako ana pero wa mi mostay. suroy ra. Kaila man akong bana ug ang tag-iya.
Super mahal pod. But worth it. Kon dato ka. Ok ra.

Hello Mr. Fortune,

As noticed you really need much privacy for that scheduled holidays in Bohol. We have lot of luxus/expensive hotels offered in Panglao island same as what PrincessasaDagat recommended to you.  Had heard from reliable source of informations that Flushing Meadows got a reasonable prices equivalent to their offered services.  You can also contact Escaya SPA Resort that if you really needs more mental meditation and physical relaxation. Of course, they have a sky-high prices too.  I've been staying before in Bohol Beach Club, the white beach sorrounds is perfect for sun bathing  and some business interruptions.  Hence, money is not a problem for you Mr. Lucky man then there could be no incovenience in your part to find the best of all in which your heart desired, right?

In the future, to avoid unwanted  stress due to gap of communications....Sir, why not hiring a Secretary to make some hotel verifications and reservations? Happy Holidays!

Here are some photos taken last Dec. '07 - Jan. '08 home vacation for proper info.

Thanks a lot for your feedbacks Agatha and Bambi. I really got pissed off because right from the very beginning, I made it clear to Mrs. Dy that i wanted to rent the WHOLE RESORT for one day. Maybe it never happened before to them. That only one person will rent the place. I'll take a look at Bohol Beach Club. Mrs. Dy got back to me. She said she will send the rate by Monday. By the way I have a secretary. But this is a "private thing" for me so I am doing it by my own lonely self.

Hello Fortune,

Communication and follow-up is the key to making reservations in Bohol.

For one, you are right, they (or Mrs. Dy) may not have had any experience regarding your needs. Your experience  in Bohol (Philippines) and my experiences elsewhere in Europe, the U.S.A and other countries will happen from time to time. I really think it has nothing to do with "English" language, it's the experience or say "lack of" by the hotel's part.  I know this is really frustrated, been there, done that! so many times.

I am glad Mrs Dy will correct her mistake and take care of you by Monday.  Rectifying her mistake is a good start to good communication & service.

HotelTravel.com is another reasonable site you can take a look and compare Hotel & Resorts in Panglao Island.  I really like this website because it gives feedback from passed vacationers.  Here's the link:  http://www.hoteltravel.com/search/search.aspx

I read that you want to know more about Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa.  Here's the Link:  http://www.eskayabeach.com/home.html
Their Audio Video Presentation and photos will give you an outlook of their resort.  Room and pricing is also available on site.  I have not been here but by glancing at their website video presentation I might consider it in the near future.

So, you own a travel agency ... share your business travel website address with us TB members.

Good Luck!

The Problem with Philippine Business
« Reply #24 on: February 16, 2008, 01:36:07 AM »
Not too much. Just enough. But the bad thing is that they did not answer my email. I had to go to the trouble of calling on the phone. I hate it when there is too much hassle. Any suggestions guys. What other resorts can you recommend.

Dear Fortune,

Many businesses in the Philippines lack customer care. They have not realized that the existence of a business solely depends on the patronage by its customers. Many times a business would treat you rudely and you had to beg first before they pay you attention.

I remember booking a ticket in a travel agency in Tagbilaran. I was ignored. I tried to speak but no one entertained my inquiry.

Was it because I was just wearing shorts when I came in their travel office?

Personally, I admire the business firms in America. The server of Tubag Bohol is located in California. Whenever I have a problem that I can't fix myself, the company would always come to rescue me. I asked many questions and they always answered my email promptly. At the end of every email, the customer care representative would always say: "Mike... should there be any other concern, please don't hesitate to contact us again."

I hope our Philippine businesses would improve the way they handle clients/customers.

Everyone is intrigued by Balong. And now my friend BK thinks Balong is me. I would love to meet this guy Balong. Anyway, I consciously imitate Balong's style of writing . He is a "fun" guy. Always funny. A ladies man. I would love to be a ladies man also but I don't have much time. I hope through this website I can find the girl of my dreams. ::)

sakto jud ka Mike, I personally had that experienced, niuli ko sa Bohol 3 years ago, I went to BPI kay naa ko account sa pinas sa una nga nahimong dormant account since there was no activity on that account for 3 years. so dli ma withdraw ang kwarta sa ATM. So I talked to this lady at the bank nya ipasa na pod ko sa lain, bottomline is gipasa pasa ra ko hantud ni abut ko sa manager. unya ang manager gibasa-basahan ra tawn ta newspaper dugay kaayu hantud gipangayu-an ko akoa accout number istrikto pa kaayu.. nya pina-ingun dayun " aw dong, dli mi katabang nmu ani. dapat adtu ka sa cebu kadtu gi-openan nmu ani nga account kay sila ra pwede mo lift sa dormant status ani nga account".  sus ti-aw mo na mura tingali ug 3 ka oras ko ddtu nya wla diay abut akoa paghuwat-huwat. or tungud ba kaha kay yano ra ko kaayu. abi ba kay nka tshirt , cargo pants ug tsinelas ra ko ingnun ana nalang diay nila pagtagad.
that was a very frustrating experience.

so niadtu ko sa Cebu, ddtu akoa gi withdraw tanan imbes kay akoa ra ipa activate balik ang account arun magamit ang ATM. gibalhin nalang nko ug lain nga bank. nasayangan ang bangko kay pwera buyag  busog pod to nga account.  akoa ingnan ang manager na wla man gud ayu inyu pagserbisyu sa inyuha customer. disappointed kaayu ko sa BPI sa bohol. mao ya ko ingnan i could write daw a complaint if i wanted to. pero kapoi na..usik usik lang na akoa oras.

Thank you my princess. Someday I will post the website of my online travel agency here in TB. I dont own the business. I'm just a travel agent. I am an affiliate of YTB Travel. Maybe one of you also owns a YTB agency. We don't advertise heavily like our competitors. Just plain word of mouth advertising. I prefer to be a little mysterious like my idol Balong. But if all our expats and abords going home to Bohol for our TB eyeball will get their tickets from me, just MAYBE, I will advertise my website here. Last year we did about $600 million in bookings.

Bol_anon ko, your experience has been reechoed by many other Filipinos.

Kinsa tong mag-business sa Pilipinas ug gusto mong mo-asenso, invest on customer care, and you will wipe out all your competition. For now, that's the secret in gaining dominance over any niche market under Philippine scenario.

I had the same experience like BK. At a shopping center in Makati. I was asking the saleslady about a necklace. She looked at me from head to foot like saying "are you out of your mind". Because like BK, I dress up in shorts and an old  tshirt full of holes. I wanted to buy the whole store and fire the saleslady. hihihi.

That's why you are comfortable not dressing up. Because you dont have to put on air. You know who you are. You dont need to impress people. So be very careful guys. Do not judge a book by its cover. During our eyeball, who knows if there is a fortune waiting to be discovered.

Since Bohol is heading for a full blast Tourism Industry, we Boholanos should anticipate this event by exposing ourselves to its technicalities and gather ideas about how this industry works.

I have a very important marketing lesson to teach you folks.

The hotels Fortune has inquired in Panglao are trying to “create buzz”. They are imitating a formula from world renowned resorts/hotels, “jacking up prices”, in hope of getting attention from Forbes Magazine and other travel magazines. They are targeting the niche market such as Dignitaries, CEOs, Celebrities,…etc.
But neither Forbes is buying their trap. None of Philippine’s best resorts are listed among the top 50 worlds most luxurious. According to Forbes, the most expensive hotels range from $1,395 (benchmark) to $5,000 a night (food and alcohol charged separately).

So, what do you get from $15,000 besides vintage French wine, food and laundry? PGMA performing a striptease? Obviously this price is too extreme and unrealistic?
At this price, you should be surrounded by staff that never says no. But I doubt if our Panglao resorts could meet the standards, because according to our friend “Fortune”, they are not even answering emails.

One time, I booked an exclusive suite for our VP’s meeting in one of the hotels in Italy. The next day, I received a welcome note with catalogues, calendar & diary set, couriered to our door-step.

Below are some of the most expensive hotels/resorts:
1. Frégate Island Private in the Seychelles where Bill Gates was once a guest – Price withheld.
2. The Wakaya Club in Fiji, also Bill Gates was once a guest – Price withheld.
3. The Mansion at the MGM Grand in Florida Keys  - $5,000 room rate only.
4. Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys - $1,395 inclusive laundry.

If you want to rent an entire resort, try Musha Keys of the Bahamas or Richard Branson’s Necker Island.

hello bol-anon, I will comment on this episode in my column in Bohol Standard newspaper.

And his father was once a governor here in Thailand and had run as senator of Thailand.

When I was a small boy I still remember giboyboy ko ug kasaba sa taga ato kay mihikap ko sa ilang awto.

Mike and all,

Kusog kaayo ang competition dire and most of the business firms are doing their very best to serve every customer the best care.

Ug dire di ka nila tan-awon head to foot kon kaaford kaba.

Dire kay kon dunay store or travel agency or unsa pa nga business firm nga maot service masulat man dayon sa newspaper and the media here has BIG power.

Macky Ferniz, I'm quite familiar with those places that you mentioned. But I cannot afford them. That's why I'll try to rent an entire resort in Bohol because it fits my budget. Just feeding my ego. Imagining I'm a millionaire like my friends. I'm not in a hurry. Just shopping around for now. But oh my, the service is really bad. They dont even answer my emails.Of what use is their advertising on the internet, I'm wondering. These people still has a lot to learn. Maybe their sales agents have never been outside the Phil. I have been all around the world. But I dont advertise my online travel agency because it's for my own exclusive use. I am the only customer.

My budget for a 1 day stay in a resort in Bohol is a million pesos. I think Panglao Island Nature resort and Flushing Meadows are at the top. It's still very much within my price range. So anyone here who has a resort to promote, just tell me. I'll take everything into consideration. Thank you.

sakto jud ka Mike, I personally had that experienced, niuli ko sa Bohol 3 years ago, I went to BPI kay naa ko account sa pinas sa una nga nahimong dormant account since there was no activity on that account for 3 years. so dli ma withdraw ang kwarta sa ATM. So I talked to this lady at the bank nya ipasa na pod ko sa lain, bottomline is gipasa pasa ra ko hantud ni abut ko sa manager. unya ang manager gibasa-basahan ra tawn ta newspaper dugay kaayu hantud gipangayu-an ko akoa accout number istrikto pa kaayu.. nya pina-ingun dayun " aw dong, dli mi katabang nmu ani. dapat adtu ka sa cebu kadtu gi-openan nmu ani nga account kay sila ra pwede mo lift sa dormant status ani nga account".  sus ti-aw mo na mura tingali ug 3 ka oras ko ddtu nya wla diay abut akoa paghuwat-huwat. or tungud ba kaha kay yano ra ko kaayu. abi ba kay nka tshirt , cargo pants ug tsinelas ra ko ingnun ana nalang diay nila pagtagad.
that was a very frustrating experience.

so niadtu ko sa Cebu, ddtu akoa gi withdraw tanan imbes kay akoa ra ipa activate balik ang account arun magamit ang ATM. gibalhin nalang nko ug lain nga bank. nasayangan ang bangko kay pwera buyag  busog pod to nga account.  akoa ingnan ang manager na wla man gud ayu inyu pagserbisyu sa inyuha customer. disappointed kaayu ko sa BPI sa bohol. mao ya ko ingnan i could write daw a complaint if i wanted to. pero kapoi na..usik usik lang na akoa oras.

Hello Jez,

I felt so bad for this experience nimo sa BPI.  Although they are kind of aloof, maayo bya unta na ilang service.  I guess you are right na sahay ma prejudiced bitaw nang mga tawo labi na mag tshirt or tsinilas ra ang clients.  I was working in a bank for almost 11 years and our management really emphasized na everybody should be treated equal bisan pag ga tsinilas. Kabalo ka, ang ganahan jud nko na bank didto sa ato noh kay Citibank, aside from our bank.  Although classy ra pod kaayo ilang dating, but naa jud sila always solution unya less paper works.  Friendly ang ilang mga tawo and yet not too comfortable.  IN other words, professional jud ilang dealings ba.

Dapat ang manager sa BPI Tagbilaran, ning tawag didto sa BPI Cebu to have them lift the dormant status para sa account.  Actually, bisan gani depositohan ug pila ka pesos just so ma re-activate ang account, pwede na unta to. And to think, BPI is fully automated naman unta. Oh well.  They lost a big customer in you.

grazie tungud cguro kay nka tsinelas ug tshirt ug short rako.. huna-huna cguro sa manager 100 pesos ra sulod or minimum...   mao wla na cya maghago pa...

oh i had another experience.. this one made me realize how impractical some of us are...  3 years ago niuli ko since my grandma died..  nya tungud kay verizon paman akoa fone adtu.. so dli magamit ddtu ang akoa fone..   timing sad my brother still has his old 3210... niadtu ko tagbilaran..  palit ko bag-o na sim nya pa load ko.. sa dhang ngpaload nko.. murag eload man cguro to akoa gipalit..  ang nagbaligya adtu  was a cashier or sales lady sa isa sa mag pawnshop.. murag sideline man cguro to nya...  when she saw my good old 3210 .. ingun sya "mao na imoha cellphone? daan naman kaayu na oi?" so i peeked at her window and look at her fone.. she had 2 cellphones.. one was a NOKIA N92 or 91... bsta top of the line to sya during that time and the other one wa a SONY Ericson phone.. mga mahalon ug fone.. so i jokingly said.. "dli ko ka afford palit ug new fone" and she replied "pwede bya ka kuha nindot nga fones nya bayad lang ka monthly or ipadeduct sa imoha monthly salary.. bsta kay naa ka work sad"? i think one of the establishments in tagbilaran offered this type of loan..

what im getting at is.. mao dghan maglisud sa atua tungud kay most people are impractical.. i dont think so working as a cashier or sales lady gets u paid that much to buy such high end phones..  2 pa kabuok.. i dont mean to discriminate but obviously she was living beyond her means...

Sus, korek jud ka Jez!  To tell you the truth, na una pa sila'g ka high tech didto sa ato when it comes to cphone kay sa amo dre.  My husband is still using his old raggedy phone pero sa akong mga kagupa sa Bohol, tua na de camera na ilang phones.  Well, I got a nice phone but special offer man to sa AT&T busa naka bag o ko otherwise, i'd settle for the 3210!  Ug sa gi ingon pa sa akong bana, he only needs daw a phone na magamit nya to call and that's it! hehehehe Anyhow, matingala bitaw ka gi unsa ka afford sa mga tawo sa ato oi to buy those new gadgets.  Mao nay gina ingon nato Jez na "Champagne taste on a beer budget" mao na ma sacrifice ang ubang basic needs kay tua man lahi ang gi prioritize.

sakto jud ka Mike, I personally had that experienced, niuli ko sa Bohol 3 years ago, I went to BPI kay naa ko account sa pinas sa una nga nahimong dormant account since there was no activity on that account for 3 years. so dli ma withdraw ang kwarta sa ATM. So I talked to this lady at the bank nya ipasa na pod ko sa lain, bottomline is gipasa pasa ra ko hantud ni abut ko sa manager. unya ang manager gibasa-basahan ra tawn ta newspaper dugay kaayu hantud gipangayu-an ko akoa accout number istrikto pa kaayu.. nya pina-ingun dayun " aw dong, dli mi katabang nmu ani. dapat adtu ka sa cebu kadtu gi-openan nmu ani nga account kay sila ra pwede mo lift sa dormant status ani nga account".  sus ti-aw mo na mura tingali ug 3 ka oras ko ddtu nya wla diay abut akoa paghuwat-huwat. or tungud ba kaha kay yano ra ko kaayu. abi ba kay nka tshirt , cargo pants ug tsinelas ra ko ingnun ana nalang diay nila pagtagad.
that was a very frustrating experience.

so niadtu ko sa Cebu, ddtu akoa gi withdraw tanan imbes kay akoa ra ipa activate balik ang account arun magamit ang ATM. gibalhin nalang nko ug lain nga bank. nasayangan ang bangko kay pwera buyag  busog pod to nga account.  akoa ingnan ang manager na wla man gud ayu inyu pagserbisyu sa inyuha customer. disappointed kaayu ko sa BPI sa bohol. mao ya ko ingnan i could write daw a complaint if i wanted to. pero kapoi na..usik usik lang na akoa oras.

Jez, I had the same experience with Metrobank. I was so angry kay wala gyud ko ka receive ug letter or email to warn about the deduction of my money. Or bisan namang lang updates or follow-up letter if I still want to continue my account aron man lang masalbar ang akong kuarta.

What I did was I sent a complaint letter, unya na refund ang uban amount pero nakuhaan gihapon ug dako sa uban charges. After adto akong gipa withdraw tanan ang kuarta and nag transfer ko ug lain nga bangko.

It's hard to wait for something you know might not happen, but it's harder to give up when you know it's everything you wanted.

Haze, naa jud na bank charge for dormant accounts and if it reached to a certain period, i award nang imong balance sa government, which is what we call Escheat Account  but after 10 years pa.  (Notice the word cheat in that term? :D)  Anyhow, you should have had received the monthly statement kay system generated man na sya.  They don't email clients or give special letters but there's that system generated bank statement and notification that your account is dormant na and that they are gonna charge you monthly fees.

Thank you. I promised I'll be back in a few days. So here I am. I was laughing so hard at what's going on with my advertisement in the relationship section. Have faith girls. I am for real. Do not be so shy. Svet, I can see from your avatar that you are a beautiful woman. Will you please post some pictures of yourself in my thread. . There's a D.irty O.ld man in there. Don't mind him at all. He is the one who is looney.I'm just like this. My idea of fun is spending my money. If you have time , if you are in Bohol, please inquire on my behalf. Tell those people there that there is a LUNATIC running loose here in TB looking for a resort. It hurts a little bit to be called "bu****" but it's okey. We are just having fun here. Let me assure all of you that I'm in full control of my senses. Right now, I'm in the middle of business negotiations. My buddy wants me to go with him to Saudi. He is thinking of buying one of those man made islands there. I have my own private island in Bohol. Off limits to everyone except my closest friends. A Japanese offered to buy it for a million bucks. I refused. What will i do with more money. I'd rather have my island. Dont forget to post your pictures Svet. PLEASE. Bye for now. I will be back. I cannot promise when.

I haven't received any of those monthly statement, Graz. Not even once. That's why I felt cheated.

I will not give you the name of my online travel agency. For those who doubt me, just take a look at this. This is owned by my friend Rowena Romero Jerez She was a tourist guide in the Phil. Now she is married to one of my friends.
