Loboc River At Night To Undergo Improvement
« on: July 13, 2008, 01:12:48 PM »
Published by the Bohol Sunday Post

Stakeholders of the famous Loboc River Cruise is using the word enchantment to describe the  experience of  making a leisure navigation up the famous Loboc River during night time.

This is possible starting July 18 when night cruises  will be allowed for the first time after a P10 million lighting facility goes in full throttle.

Amidst the streak of blazing lights from both sides of the river banks, the  enchantment hooves into view as soon as the night trekkers reach the portion  of the river where lush vegetation looms in the direction of the Busay Falls.

A philanthropist who is the special envoy to China  drew from his own pocket the P10 million to make night  time cruise of the mighty Loboc River a possibility.

Since then, Ambassador Carlos Chan became a regular fixture in any Loboc undertaking that needs financial assistance.

It was through the true grit of Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan that  make things happen for the town’s top tourist attraction, of course, with Mr. Chan as principal patron.

Providing the entertainment fare of the night launching of the Loboc river cruise are its homegrown Loboc Children’s Choir and Loboc Youth Band.

The launching ceremonies will be held at the Loboc’s Children’s Palace another project built along the river bank fronting the historic Loboc church and through the courtesy of Mr. Chan.

With the entry of the Village Resto and Cruises, a night time trip along Loboc’s waterway is an experience billed as more enchanting.

The Village boat cruises, now managed by  travel and tour guru Walter Sultan, are so far the authorized bancas to make use of the night time trek  at the magically lighted Loboc River.

Ambot lang ha, improvement or change is good for the community but having to have the lights and noise during the night just to have entertainment sa Loboc River is NOT good. First, kalooy tawon sa mga tawo nga ang ila balay duol sa Loboc River nga matugaw sila. Second, intawon ang mga creatures like Tarsiers ug uban pa nga maesturbo.

For me, I'm not in favor of this improvement. Eventually, it will ruin the nature of Loboc River.

Thanks Ate Tess and Miss Da Binsi (I dunno your real name, sorry  ;D )

Actually I was a member way before pa under a different username, kaso na-deactivate or something... All the same, dili sad ko kaau tigpost, malagmit low gihapon ako ranking...  ;D

I remember when we stayed in Nuts Huts last holy week, and we chanced on discussing this issue with the owners. They were really the ones who first voiced their opposition to the project. They even consulted with the community people who were also against the project because of the strain that it will cause to the already crippled loboc river system. There's the wave action that have already caused considerable damage to the riverbanks (considering the soft soil structure in the area).

And it's gonna be noisy. The noise might be forgivable during the daytime, but at night when you'd rather want to hear the beautiful songs of the cicada and other night creatures? You guys must go to Nuts Huts to experience this. (Di ko stockholder sa Nuts Huts ha...  ;D) Though, I don't know if it's still beautiful with the blaring music of the night cruise.

Okay so when the Nuts Huts owners (foreigners) aired their sentiments to the Loboc LGU. What they got was this response that goes something like this: You're not from here. You just follow our laws.

Anyway, they pretty much laid low because they might not be given business permits next year. They have this notebook, though, in their restaurant that compiles all the comments of their guests regarding the night cruise and river lighting project.

One of these days, I'm gonna start an online black prop campaign against that night cruise...

(Okay so medyo napataas ang ako post... hehe!)

Welcome back Bohol Republic. I've been reading your blogs in 2005 & 2006 before Tubag Bohol was born. I was one of your fan.

I've also seen your highly intellectual and witty statements during the infancy of Tubag Bohol.

Bright ning bataa si Liza folks.

Thanks Macky!

You are too kind... ;D

Yes, my how TubagBohol has grown! Murag lisod na kaayo isakay, you guys are now a real community...  :)

Thanks Ate Tess!

Ang Nuts Huts is malabyan nimo padulong sa Busai sa Loboc River. Naay Beer na Beer na karatula: Nuts Huts. That is, if you go travel through the river (which is the easier route). Otherwise, you go by habal-habal or 4WD truck, naay tipasonon sa Brgy. Gotozan downhill to the Nut Huts itself. The place is basically a backpacker's shack kay basic kaau facilities... Not for the usual tourists gani...

There's sooo much more places in Bohol to explore!!!

Cheerios!

The boats night crauizes are run on weekend evenings only during certain times.

The lights set in alongside the banks of the riverare green and do not give out big ilumes that would blind a bat.

So far I hasve not heard any negative words since it has opened up for tourist.
