Published by Sunday PostLite Shipping Corporation has launched its newest vessel, M/V LITE FERRRY 8- -the 10th and the biggest addition to the present fleet of Roll-on/Roll-Off Passenger/Cargo ferries.
The 68-meter long and 1,108-tons vessel will serve the Cebu-Ormoc route daily.
M/V Lite Ferry 8 boasts of first class facilities with fully air-conditioned two suite rooms and four cabin rooms, each complete with individual bathroom and toilet, and the well-appointed tourist class, spacious standard class and economy class accommodations which can accommodate a total of 859 passengers.
Classified by MARINA as a rebuilt vessel, the recently rehabilitated/renovated ship is powered by two Akasaka engines with a total horsepower of 4,200 and has a service speed of 14-16 knots and could carry 18 buses or trucks in its sizable wagon deck.
M/V Lite Ferry 8 was formally inaugurated on May 31 at Pier 2 of the port of Cebu City where no less than Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza graced the occasion to express the government's effort in promoting the Roll-On/Roll-Off ferry services and operations for the Strong Republic Nautical Highway program.
Currently, aside from Ormoc, Lite Shipping Corporation is serving the ports of Tagbilaran, Tubigon, Getafe, Loon, Bohol via Argao, San Carlos City via Toledo City and is planning to add two more destination links in the Visayas or Mindanao area before end of this year.
