As one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, Bohol will get a boost with the confirmed entry of SEAIR (Southeast Asian Airlines) Cebu-Tagbilaran-Cebu route, spicing up Tagbilaran City as a gateway.
The Boholano riding public will enjoy a 25-minute flight in its intended route.
Mary Anne Tan (Vismin manager - SEAIR), whisked the city Thursday for an ocular inspection of the Tagbilaran City airport and met with Tagbilaran ATO manager Edgar Solis to discuss technical aspects for such flight route.
She also made a courtesy call on Mayor Dan Lim. The newly reelected city mayor welcome the airline.
Johnny Enerio, SEAIR-Bohol GSA pointed out that the inaugural flight will be on June 15. He likewise bared that flight schedule will be four times a week with tentative departures at 7:45 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, and 8:45 a.m. on Thursday and Sundays -
Passengers will have enough time to make the necessary Cebu outbound flights with PAL, Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines and SEAIR to other key cities in the country without passing by downtown Cebu with all the hassle of heavy traffic.
Upon presentation of the airline entry by Enerio to Gov. Erico Aumentado, the latter welcome the entry as it would complement the direct Manila flights, encouraging influx of visitors from Mindanao and Western Visayas.
SEAIR VP for operations, Capt. Tabora also assured the commuting public that SEAIR, now on its 12 years, had been known for its safe and excellent services especially that it had been catering to the Boracay market.
SEAIR is owned by Iren Dornier (based in Clark) whose grandfather is one of Germany's airline manufacturers. Its aircrafts plying the Boracay routes are Dornier planes.
It is also proud to introduce its Dornier-24 ATT, a unique amphibian aircraft still on its UNICEF mission flights but will be commercially available for exclusive charter by December 2007.
It might be serving the waters off Eskaya Resort, Bohol Beach Club, Panglao Island Nature Resort, among other resorts in Bohol before the end of 2007.
Enerio further bared that initially the Tagbilaran Cebu route will be served with a LET 410 UVP-E, a 19-seater class aircraft.
These type of aircraft had been serving the Cebu-Boracay/ Cebu - Surigao/ Cebu-Dipolog/ Cebu-Camiguin/ Cebu - Siargao / Cebu-Cagayan de Oro routes.
