THE entry to the new wonder nature list of the 1,268 dome-like Chocolate Hills in three towns here has climbed up to number four, overtaking Amazon River of Latin America, Mount Everest and Ganges River of Asia now at number 7, 6 and 5, respectively, after it was delisted weeks back for unknown reasons.
At least three entries of the Philippines landed in top ten. They are the Chocolate Hills, Tubbataha Reef of Palawan at third slot and Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, also of Palawan at number eight. The fourth Philippine entry, the perfect cone Mayon Volcano of Albay, is at number eleven based on the latest on-going on-line voting for the search of new seven wonders of nature.
Still at number one slot is the Ha Long Bay of Vietnam and Cox's Bazar Beach, Bangladesh number two.
Provincial officials led by Gov. Erico Aumentado and Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera issued separate campaign statements urging Boholanos and non-Boholanos alike around the world to cast vote by logging on at
www.new7wonders.com to make Choco Hills as one of the new seven wonders of nature by next year or 2010 when the decision is made by experts.
In a separate interview, Mayor Boy Molina of Carmen, where most of the Choco Hills are concentrated along with Batuan and Sagbayan towns, also took the cudgels of pushing the campaign. He said that his administration is spreading the word by handing out leaflets and posting billboards in conspicuous areas in some towns to vote for the Choco Hills to be one of the seven wonders.
He said that he likewise urged fellow Carmenanons, who are now residing or working in the U.S., particularly in California, to cast vote on Choco Hills. In fact, some concerned Carmenanons have created a website in the U. S.
