sorry but i disagree
that ain't true...
desktop type linux or even redhat ES got gui similar to Micro$oft's "add/remove programs" or if its an rpm then you can use nautilus then click and install, both available in KDE and Gnome. i believe even slackware naa sad sila ilang kaugalingon tool for that purpose. try checking those linux for desktops, for sure you can find useful gui tools if you dont want to get dirty with the terminal.
