Opera Beats Firefox and Explorer?
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:59:20 PM »
Ars Technica takes the latest from Opera's stable — Opera 9.5 for a test run and finds some interesting results, including it being a "solid improvement to an already very strong browser."

On the performance front, Ars Technica reports "Opera 9.5 scored slightly higher (281ms) than the previous released version, 9.23 (546ms).

And Opera 9.x, let it be known, smacks silly the likes of Firefox and Internet Explorer, which tend to have results in the 900-1500ms range on this test machine (a 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM).

Opera was 50 percent faster on average than Firefox, and 100 percent faster than IE7 on Windows Vista, for instance."

So far, I've downloaded Firefox, Opera, IE, and Safari. Firefox is by far the easiest and most versatile internet browser there is. Most major banks, flash websites, online stores, etc, are compatible with Firefox. If you're looking to optimize your internet security and never have a pop-up in your browser, Opera is your browser! Whenever I'm on eBay, Facebook, or MySpace, I never get the unwanted ads that usually pop up on IE or Firefox. This totally comes in handy when you're looking up lyrics to your favorite song to only be greeted with two to three pop up ads.  :)

IE7 sucks and has tons of security holes! When Opera9 works, it's great, but it still hangs too much for me. FF2 is still my favorite browser tho it does still occasionally hangs, garbles the display or just won't work on IE exclusive sites like the MS Update site >:(...joey
