Do not click links in your email.
« on: April 05, 2009, 04:13:04 PM »
IMPORTANT:
Always copy & paste links of web address to your browsers:

Because fraudulent ("phishing") e-mail often uses misleading links, Microsoft recommends that you do not click or open links in your e-mail, but instead copy and paste them into your browsers.

Open your web browser, paste the link in the address bar, and then press ENTER.

Sir/M'am Insurectus, abe nako ug naa amigas (ant) aho screen tungod sa imong avatar.  Nibagay pud sa imong handle.  hehe.   :)

Anyway, my point is before clicking the link say by hovering the mouse on that link (be it URL text or image),  the user can simply tell whether it is a legitimate or valid website by looking  at the status bar below.   The actual hyperlink could not be the same as the URL text embedded in the email.   AND even if I click that link and being fetched to the "fake website",  I still believe that it is still a better practice not to input any sensitive information like password, CC#, etc.  on that site.  This is the same as "dont even attempt" to open an email attachment from the sender whom you don't know.   He has to verify either by email or by phone with the (financial) institution that he/she is a member of.  One of anti-phising solutions is what they called "social re-engineering".  Meaning, there has to be a public awareness about  "phising" or in layman's phrase - gathering sensitive informations through a fake website.

By the way, though I have still to check this,  some link images could not be right click by the mouse like macro media images (flash).

My two cents,

I believe ma right click na nimo ang image unya naa something like copy image
location or copy link location

Murag lisod sad neng imong pangutana sir da. Graphical na so lisod ug keyboard ra saligan (except new laptop kay naa man touchpad).

So, murag pareha ra sauna ug karon kon magtoon ug computer.  Sauna simply ra mga applications.  Karon complicated pero convenient ug exciting na tungod sa mga high tech pheripherals and gadgets.

Cheers!
