NXTsoft's ThreatAdvice cybersecurity training and awareness meets the standards for local governments in the state of Texas the the contractors that serve those entities.

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 06, 2019
NXTsoft’s ThreatAdvice Cybersecurity Education solution was named by the state of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as a certified provider of cybersecurity education and resources for Texas and local government employees and state contractors. As defined in Chapter 2054 of Texas Government Code, local government includes a county, municipality, special district, school district, or other political subdivision of the state.
According to House Bill 3834 the Texas DIR in consultation with the previously established cybersecurity council was required to certify at least five cybersecurity training programs for state use. The ThreatAdvice Cybersecurity training program was certified by the state of Texas on November 1, 2019. To be certified, a cybersecurity program must focus on informing information security habits and procedures that protect information resources and teach best practices for detecting, assessing, reporting and addressing information security threats.
“NXTsoft’s ThreatAdvice Cybersecurity Training is poised to educate state of Texas entities of all sizes as well as companies that contract with the state of Texas,” said David Brasfield, CEO of NXTsoft. “ThreatAdvice has worked closely with the state of Alabama to implement cybersecurity education and training in that state and understands the needs cybersecurity needs of government organizations and their affiliates,” he said.
Among others the state of Texas requires that the following receive yearly cybersecurity training through a certified program:

Employees who use a computer to complete at least 25 percent of their work

Elected and appointed officials, regardless of whether they use a computer to perform at least 25 percent of their duties

Any contractor who has access to a state computer system or database

State agencies are bound by state procurement regulations and therefore must select a program that is offered through DIR's cooperative contracts. If a state agency wants to procure an item available from DIR's contracts and services program through an avenue other than a DIR contract, the agency must request an exemption.
