The development of the world market for accessories was considerably weaker in 2009 than in previous years. In total, there was a decline of 14 percent to 5.8 billion Euros.
Despite this development, the
Bosch Accessories business unit was able to strengthen its leading market position and further increase its innovative strength. Thanks largely to the acquisitions in 2009 of Swiss-based sia Abrasives and the accessories business of Italian-based Freud.
With more than 100,000 products, Bosch offers the appropriate accessories for virtually all applications. In 2009, new products accounted for nearly 20 percent of the accessories sales. Bosch will continue to pursue this strategy of innovation in 2010, with the aim of further consolidating its leading position.
In 2010, Bosch will, for the first time, launch 40 new accessories ranges for or relevant to the Asia Pacific region. Today, more than 9000 articles are already offered under the Bosch brand in the Asia Pacific market.
Quality is a main priority for Bosch accessories. Responsible departments continuously check the quality of incoming raw materials, outgoing finished products and all steps in the manufacturing process. In China, Bosch Accessories employs 70 quality engineers dedicated to guaranteeing their users’ consistent high quality products. - press release
