When you first introduced yourself as someone from Bohol, what were some of the most striking words, images or impressions you've received from non-Boholanos (Filipinos and foreigners alike)? Were there specific places, people or images that they mentioned? To those foreigners who've commented about Bohol, how did they learn of it?

sa mindanao, i was subject to many jokes like "pakisabaw-pakibahog diay ka" or "lamesa ra man konoy patag didto"

Let me start. Most of the non-Boholano Filipinos I've introduced myself to generally say, "Nice place" and associate Bohol with Chocolate Hills... then they mention Bohol Beach Club and Panglao. Their general image of Bohol is that of a tourist spot.

Most of the Japanese are more familiar with Cebu than Bohol, but Bohol is slowly becoming more recognized. Those who have been here say Bohol is more beautiful than Cebu "but there is no golf course."

White people always love to be at the beach and Bohol has the best beaches in the world... Almost all filipinos are warm, but boholanos are specially warm.... I agree, but your beaches, nothing can compare...

ben, i was often told during first introduction: "ija-ija, aho-aho diay ka" or "ninja ray mopatay ninjo diay ka." i just smiled. kapoy na mangita ug bikil.

Kung "ija-ija ahu-aho" ang unang isulti nila sa Bol-anon, sa Ilongo "sa amon, ginapala-ginapiko ang kuwarta."

I get the worst of both worlds because sometimes I also introduce myself as Ilongo, in reference to my maternal side.
