Here, the resources are still abundant, unspoiled and unexploited. Blue crabs or lambay can be found at knee high waters. People here found the supermarket as more convenient than catching crabs or fish. Therefore, wildlife thrives a lot here. The sea are rich with different fishes like Alaska. You can only find Filipinos fishing and no other else. They fish only for recreation or relaxation and not for food.
Let me tell you a short story of my life.
One time when I was about 25 years old, my first company went bankrupt. I survived through fishing with mentorship of Rey Ompad, the causin of Blue Angel. He thaught me how to catch crabs with bare hands. Also how to catch Cuttle fish (Kubutan) which is hard to find because it is well comoflaged and we used to catch it at night. I met a fishing mate who is Rocky Gatal, the causin of Mikey Gatal.
After months of working in part-time jobs and fishing, Rocky Gatal introduced me to a Boholano who was a big time manager of Saudi American Bank. His name is Jun Ayag, a very strict, straight to the point, kind of manager, but he helps people who wants to develop skills. Outside the office, he is down to earth and prefers simple friends. I worked in Saudi American Bank for less than a year. Our team with Jun's leadership was awarded as the best to handle a crisis, when a virus hit and paralyzed the central computer. We were well organized that without aid of computers, business resumed as normal even it was very high season (December).
Since my sponsorship can not be transfered to Jun's company, I moved on to a marketing/trading and distribution company, where I became a Marketing Analyst and now handling Purchasing/export department.
With my 18 years hands on experience in the trading business, I bet any MBA graduate could be better.
Whew! That was real survival in a foreign land.
Since I am a kind of person who is not comfortable with uniformity, I wish to pursue with my engineering career. I am planning to take a board exams in Civil Engineering here in the Kingdom hopefully by next year.
Move on.
