with the international airport it would not be difficult to advertise around the world. the other segment of the society must be busy too like maintaining our culture and heritage, other segment takes care on economic reform, governance and so on. it must be a division of labor.

eveyone must have his own contribution. MAGTINABANGAY.... with the airport, it is easier for them to see and savor our own SHOWCASE to the world, SIMPLICITY OF BEAUTY...

In fine, these have been some of the arguments raised against pursuing the project: Constructing such massive infrastructure in the island would be detrimental to the tourism industry of Panglao as the sound pollution it would create would disturb the tourists in the area. We're much to close to the international airport that is in Cebu to maintain our own sustainable traffic of international tourists. The existing roads, bridges, and transportation systems that link Panglao Island to Tagbilaran and mainland Bohol are not adequate to support any additional influx of tourists and neither is it believed that sufficient improvement in these factors can be achieved in the first decade of the airport's operation. A substantial part of the fund for the project has already been spent for acquiring lands and the resulting litigation of contesting claims to these lands. No matter what or which administration promises it, the project's completion is unlikely.

A municipal waterworks system in Panglao has been a long-standing issue and not much has been done to resolve it. Daghang away pero way aksyon. Sa Inabanga pud, naa unta mi'y suba pero wa pa gihapoy panubig.

Bohol with out International Airport will be a slow moving economy and less tourist. With the Airport we can create an economic zone and export directly to the world with out passing Cebu or Manila. It will increase our turn around time, that is very crucial in export.

The economic glitches is just temporary. Once the US will align and recover. Our airport will be very useful in term of tourist and export.

We must elect a leader who have a vision that Boholano will no longer go to another Province to work for a living. We must create jobs in Bohol.

Recent updates on the Panglao Bohol Airport Development Project:

1. Detailed Engineering Design was awarded to PhilJAC, a Filipino and Japanese consulting firm, in December 2008.

2. PhilJAC's survey teams are now at the project site for precise survey for building and other facilities layout preparatory to construction. Other activities for DED are ongoing.

3. About 30 Panglaoanons will be hired to clear the shrubs for one month. This is to complement the work of the survey teams.

4. The relocation site for qualified affected families is also undergoing subdivision survey.

5. PhilJAC has recommended the development of an additional access road leading to the airport terminal (which will become the main access road).

6. DOTC has already transferred 37.5 Million to the Prov'l Gov't as additional funding for payment of lots, improvements, and related activities.

7. Construction work is expected to start by first week of October 2009

8. Estimated time of completion is December 2010
