An investigation into reported anomalous hospitalization claims made against the city government’s Blue Card program is gaining ground at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
This even as a probe team tasked by City Mayor Dan Lim released its findings last week that uncovered an institutional racket at the Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (Coop Hospital).
SP committee on public accountabilities chair Kag. Anne Mariquit Oppus, however, explained the city council’s inquiry is fully independent and conducted without a predisposition that employees at City Hall are at fault.
Oppus pointed out the inquiry is mainly in aid of legislation and to scrutinize the implementation of Ordinance C-186, which created the city’ free hospitalization program.
However, if the outcome of said investigation finds culpability of city government personnel, Oppus said the most the SP could do is recommend sanctions which only the mayor could impose.
