Last month several lions requested to lion district 301-B2 district Governor Manolo Lao that Jagna needs disaster relief after some picture taking and making reports by some of the local lions on the damage done to the area they turned it into the district governor he then sent assessed reports to Lions Clubs International requesting for help to be given....Below is the reply from the LCI regarding the release of funds that they sent to the district governor....

"Dear Governor Lao -

LCIF Chairperson Tam has awarded an emergency grant in the amount of US$5,000 to assist the Lions of District 301-B2 with their tornado Buhawi relief efforts. A grant check will be prepared and sent to the district. Until the grant check arrives, you may use district funds to carry out the relief efforts.

Please remember that according to the board-established grant criteria, emergency grant funds must be used only to provide basic necessities -- such as food, clothing, blankets, bottled water, and medical supplies for those affected by the disaster. The LCIF funds may not be used to rebuild structures damaged by the fires or to provide housing for disaster victims. The amount of the grant is not sufficient to meet these needs and other relief organizations and government agencies are better positioned to address such longer-term needs. Please also note that the grant funds must be utilized by the Lions and should not be turned over to a third-party organization.

If the grant funds are used for ineligible expenditures or handed over to another organization, the district will be asked to reimburse this amount to LCIF. Please contact LCIF if there are any questions regarding what qualifies as an eligible expenditure or an approved plan of action for the use of the grant funds.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there are any questions. We wish you the very best with your relief efforts.

Sincerely,
Jindalle"
