The agency manning the security force at the Tagbilaran City Airport will be terminated of its contract after the P2 million burglary of airport lights and equipment discovered last Wednesday.

Gov. Erico Aumentado ordered ATO Manger Edgar Solis to take drastic action on the recent incident as it would jeoparize the operations of the airport which serves no less than four direct flights from Manila daily.

The governor said "there was laxity on the security of the airport," after he summoned yesterday the local ATO manager together with PNP Provl Director Edgardo Ingking.

"The safety of the planes should not be compromised," the governor stressed during his investigation on the case yesterday.

Solis assured the governor that lights can be restored soon with replacements to be installed immediately.

The governor ordered to expedite the installation so as not to affect the arrival of planes during inclement weather where the runway lights are needed.

B4 the guards and the police would have a building to sleep in when not on duty. They have torn the building down and no one sleeps there now.
I am not sure if this is the security that is out of Cebu or local but the one from Cebu is operated so unfairly they fired persons who knew too much about the open area's and the security who tried to report it was fired beofre he could do so.
Most the guys working security there are hardly ever paid on time as it is.
They often make nightly run way checks as I have been there late at night as my daughter's dad is a police man on duty there before.
They are often watching the gate and the run way approach.
They just finished construction there.
Who knows it could have gone out unnoticed during broadlight at the end of a construction day in the terminal area?
Me and the run way have some fond memories........yes we do so many smooth take off's and landing's! Gliding down the runway!
