Nestor Balatero filed his resignation as treasurer of the Philippine National Red Cross, Bohol chapter, amid some discrepancies in the ongoing construction of a two-storey PNRC building, this city.
He said the construction discrepancies caused him “sleepless nights considering that he is the person in-charge of the funds of the PNRC board.â€
The resignation of Balatero followed after a report inspection conducted by Prov’l Engr. Rosalinda Yu found some construction defects in the P1- million building, which most contractors commented to be a tight budget for such an edifice.
Yu in her report asked the Davao Constructors Development Cooperative (DACODECO) to prepare plans and methods for the corrections of deficiencies.
The contractor, represented by Ramon V. Cabasis, was asked to provide base plates of the kind, size and thickness specified on the plan including the water leakage through a portion of a concrete roof slab.
Irregularities were also noted in a portion of column and beam intersection where a concrete column is not filled up to the beam level.
Gov. Erico Aumentado, PNRC-Bohol board chairman convened an emergency meeting last Monday after he received the resignation letter of Balatero. Instead, he asked the PNRC treasurer to reconsider his resignation while measures were taken to check on the deficiencies of the building construction.
