Cathay has good pay packages, good health insurance and good travel bennies for the really senior guys or if you move to HK. Now, compared to other airlines, say the former Continental Airlines, they had good travel bennies even for the 5-7 year employees. Pay is less than half of Cathay's and job stability is not too good. CX has continued to be one of the world's best. You can reap bigger rewards only if you give them your first born son...err...I mean, live the life they dictate.
For some of us who don't want to live in HK and want to stay where we've settled, the bennies is not as good (travel etc) but at least the job stability is better than most US airlines.
Just thought of something, there are so many Pinoy sailors out there, I wonder if any of them know of a cheap way to send say a container back to the US. I know there are Pinoys who send container full of stuff from US to PI, there must be a way to do it in reverse, without breaking the bank. I hope. (really good wood furniture from the artisans in Loboc and Antequera I'd want to bring back )
