Thanks i am always upbeat.

But when i see biases going on in here I am not intimidated to speak out about it.

As a judge here for several events I have noticed it and have been told being biased is a part of the culture.
Just not a part of mine.
My door is open to anyone who wants to air a constructive and a legitimate feeling.
But when people have to take things personally and start ganging up on people personally then some one has the right to fight for what should be right.
In here many persons get side tracked and onto some egotistical outburst as if what things said in here are about them personally.
If you feel your a great positive contributor then no need to be offensive as I have seen in this web site over and over again.
Even I am up beat the PAK PAK is gamay like some judges do to great talents here competing they give small acknowledgement and low scores if they do not know you and the performer is great, as someone popular the judges will judge for popularity.
It is normal here.
I know I am intelligent I am told that often in a day time.
I am sort of like Atty. Victor Delaserna carass and do not beat around the bush.
If your mean time after time it is only normal for that person to show back the same attitude as they are getting.
I have plenty of patience, but as you all know you can push some one so far or your going to get it.
When I get to the point most do not like it.
We call it a bait some one wants to keep on baiting you along until the point it is time to bite the worm.
Some like it when the worm bites as they feel it is a way of getting attention and not in a nice way.
Baiting for negatives. Something we learn in 8th grade socail sciences classes.

I have seen Philippine persons commenting in here and saying whats on their mind do the particulars group of same people harassing me harass them as well?
No! I wonder why that is?
Does it have something to do that I am not a brown skinned Boholana?
I have allot of friends and I know who they are, and in fact they say to me that they wished more persons were like me to the point and straight forward about what is the real life's story going on.
Thank you for the proper compliment it takes a real person now a days to even know how to give a compliment.

I give a compliment now a days to someone they act ashamed and do not know how to react, maybe they are not use to someone being nice to them?
Here someone would rather knock you down so you always regress instead of progress the Philippine persons call it "Crab Mentality" here.

I myself have reacted "vehemently" to one of the comments you have posted in another thread, which I felt characterized the Boholanos wholesale in a negative light.

I guess it's a real challenge to see things from an objective point of view. Sometimes we react to what we perceive as another's bias with another bias.

The best thing we can do is to be aware that we always have a perspective when we look at things. That perspective is influenced by our upbringing, education, environment, cultural values, etc.

So when we exchange views, let us be open to the perspectives of others and try to be sensitive to where he or she is coming from. Let's remind ourselves that we are not diminished by people who take views contrary to ours. I believe that every point of view can either reinforce ours--when it's agreeable--or refine it--when it is contrary. In this sense, every opinion, negative or positive, is always worth something.

Well said, Bene san! Arigato! I am learning a lot from your words of wisdom and I hope that someday when I am confronted again with opinions that doesn't match with mine, I will remember these words. I was reading some where that the Korean International; flight from Korea straight to Bolo was postponed for now?

That was a bummer to hear.

We need something to start the fizzle in getting this place tourist ready.

Presently I am collecting tourist comments after they have stayed here, I would like to hear their weakness's and the strengths and will be writing about it around the first part of the year.

Mike if you could think of a survey sheet to ask the tourist specific questions on what it is was and what should be improved etc..Please send me an email, on any ideals on what to ask them over all? My email is open to everyone.

In one of Mrs Arroyo's cabinet meeting this month of January 2008, the president ordered the concerned government agencies to pave the way for the start for the construction works of the P 4.7 billion Panglao International Airport as Air passenger arrivals in Bohol accordingly jumped from 31,641 in 2001 to 198,605 in 2005 and 241,484 in 2006, samot na daw sa 2007 pirting daghana na ang pasahiro. I've heard from my Auntie, who is in the top level of the DILG, the Asst. Provincial Director of Bohol,  that this is a deal. Word comes from high up in the echelon of government.
And I personally think that it is a good thing. I don't think that we have to worry about so much of a devastating effect on the ecological fauna in Bohol because the millions of tourists that the supposed Panglao International Airport is supposed to take in are not coming to Bohol for 'night-life' action, urban development and what not, I mean why would they? Cebu is literally right next door. The tourists that will come to Bohol are coming to the island for the environmental aspect, to see the local fauna, the infamous and world-known "Chocolate Hills of Carmen". (Last week I just drove to Erie, PA and went to the mall in Millcreek and saw a huge poster on Bohol's Chocolate Hills in the Travel Agency department. Thats how 'well known' Bohol is over here, specially in North Western Pa. Americans going to Bohol go there for its relaxed and comfortable setting, they don't want to see the island get 'remodeled' as you or I do. The airport will only provide the basis for more tourists, which translates into more capital for tourist destinations in Bohol, more capital for the transportation sector, or hotel and housing sectors.

Bohol is blessed with all her wonders, which many other provinces in the Philippines could only DREAM about having, to even be considered in having an international airport built in, in particular.

Good to you Jeroen Hellingman, you have more and more supporters. People of Bohol have awaken to the reality. I have read your article "An International Airport in Panglao makes no economic sense". Folks, Jeroen Hellingman campaigned against this before Tubag Bohol was born.

By the way, welcome to tubag bohol "Renegade" you are the most vulgar member I've ever read. I enjoyed your comments.

an international airport in bohol is going to be ONE BIG MISTAKE. on the short term, it will enrich the landowners whose lands will be absorbed by the airport's land requirement, it will enrich the contractors who will be undertaking the physical construction, it will enrich the politicians who will be involved in the approval of the project and release of funds and everyone else who will be signing the project documents. but for the long term, this international airport will only waste a lot of public money, both for construction and maintenance. Why? because it can NEVER sustain its own operations and this is what makes it a losing proposition to begin with. if they want a better and safer airport, sure they can go ahead and build one. they can even put it up on panglao island, but only for domestic flight operations. the mactan international airport is sufficient to serve the needs for the visayas area. so, don't you ever believe the rants and raves of the proponents in government saying that this project will help improve the economy of bohol. i can tell you with certainty as morning comes after the night that these government officials are ONLY after the 20 to 30 percent commission that they will receive from the winning contractor.

A big no, this is not good for the environment, greenpeace had already critizes this project.

Even if I'm not living Bohol permanently,  I will give my comments on the construction  of Panglao International Airport.

I do believe that it will benifet to the people of Bohol because tourist will not be anymore passing
Cebu and Tagbilaran City will be the new business center of Visayas. Bohol is known throughout
the world for its chocolate hills, tarsier, falls,  white beaches and many more. If  there will be an international airport in Panglao, tourists from any parts of the globe  will not be diverted to any
place in the Visayas except Bohol.

The new International Airport of Panglao will invites more tourist coming to the
country.

With the declaration of Open Air Policy under GMA Administration giving flight incentives to foreign airlines to boost our tourism industry, many kaalyados welcome such thing with OPEN ARMS. That's why most of the local governments with potential tourist destinations geared up to build airport facilities to welcome tourist with OPEN LEGS without using first their open mind. sakto gyud ka calls... tourists that you find in panglao are actually people who escape the noise of mactan island because they want to find solitude in beautiful surroundings. once they bring an international airport to panglao, we can expect these tourists to go elsewhere.

Linds, sorry. I was not refering to that airport project in Panglao. I mean the enhancement of the causeway leading to Panglao. That airport project should be of least priority until such time that there is really a need. Considering the area of Panglao, constructing an airport would be feasible but not really viable because of the environmental impact that may happen in the area. It will certainly destroy the natural beauty of the island. Then, if and when that will happen, kinsa na may ganahan moanha diha? Mao nay giingon nga, 'the means doesn't justify the ends."

I am happy to share that the construction of the Panglao Bohol International Airport will soon start.

The detailed engineering and design is already awarded to the same consulting firm that designed the NIA 2 (Centennial) terminal.

Construction will start sometime in August 2009.

MIAA General Manger Cusi reaffirmed their commitment to fund the the bulk of the project (Php 3 Billion). DOTC's share (Php 1 Billion +++) is already in its 2009 budget.

Along with the construction of the airport will come the necessary parallel infrastructure projects -- improvement of water supply, improvement of electric power supply, improvement of roads to meet traffic demand, expansion of the bridge connecting Panglao to mainland Bohol.

The continuing operation of the airport in Tagbilaran is no longer feasible for AIR SAFETY reasons. Expanding it would cost more than building at least two international airports.

Erico

The revised time line of activities for the construction of the Panglao Bohol International Airport, as prepared by the detailed engineering and design consultant, will be presented to the President in a dinner meeting at Malacanan Palace on Dec. 3.

Our fellow Boholanos, our stakeholders, and all those who care for Bohol's future can be rest-assured by the fact that the Provincial Leadership is looking at the bigger picture in the implementation of the airport project.

We totally agree with the concerns raised -- the urgency of having a reliable water system to meet the increasing demands, environmental impact, improved vehicular access to Panglao Island, and other legitimate issues. Yes, these issues can and are actually being addressed simultaneously (rather than dealing with the water supply issue first, as suggested by some distinguished members of this forum) especially that we cannot afford to delay the operation of the new airport in view of the continuing dangers we experience while using the Tagbilaran Airport.

glacier_71

so it is going ahead then...do i hear it right?
Artificial Intelligence is nothing in comparison to Natural Stupidity.

bolingitboy

erico: do you really believe that an international airport in panglao will be self-liquidating? or do you expect to receive subsidy from the national government or other appropriate government agencies for airport operations and maintenance?

TOPAC

kini si erico ug edgardo ba, si gov ba ni ug congressman? pagmata na mo mga "honorable" officials of the provincial government.. basaha ning tibouk thread basin na pay paglaum nga mausab ng inyong mga hunahuna.. i doubt if you'd see one who is for the project..

last year sa gatambay pa kos bohol, nagsugod na man ni silag clearing operations.. nagpapicture pa ni si erico with the bulldozer..

baga jud ug nawong.. pila baya na ektaryas nya usa ra to ka bulldozer magclearing.. what a pr guy..

:-)

glacier_71

these officials are so smart that they think we can always be "in the dark" with their malicious maneuverings and political ambitions. knowing all these so called "for progress" projects are but instruments of their desire to get more kick-backs, we boholanos must unite to tell our local government officials about the stand of the people regarding this issue of the construction of the airport. there are more pressing needs that have to be addressed to in the municipalities that can help the greater population of bohol than the fewer ones which this airport can do.
Artificial Intelligence is nothing in comparison to Natural Stupidity.

TOPAC

mao.. P4.2 billion daw glacier ang cost.. clap clap..

nay daghan gipanggutom diha, nganung dili man livelihood projects ila buhaton???

so for politicians, they had rather keep the poor, poor.. or even make them poorer.. logic..
:-)

udtohan

A Layman

Another publicity con disconcerted efforts! Were there public consultations being made to this effect? I doubt if these leaders are thinking about the longterm effect of this project. The problem with these people in power is that they all seem to welcome this big project with 'OPEN ARMS' for their selfish interest without really minding how many years will this amount be paid by our helpless Boholanos. Kalooy! Granting that the premise of boosting tourism industry holds true, the likelihood of destroying the now intact social and moral values of Boholanos is highly at stake. Will the Boholanos just welcome such a gargantuan project of Erico with 'OPEN LEGS'?

Sounds like what GWBush uttered about US invasion in Iraq which was a flop. They could just utter all those words so easily to pass the blame to others. If oil-rich Dubai is putting on hold mega construction projects like the Trump Towers and equally oil-rich Russia is suspending the construction of the world's tallest skyscraper Russian Tower because of the global financial crisis, I can't imagine whose deep pocket Arroyo can reach to push through with the Panglao international airport.

With national treasury raided by the fertilizer scam, the paper-bag pay-offs, and all other political shenanigans that places this country in the top ranking of corrupt governments, I wonder what strong economic fundamentals they speak of that will brace us for the hard times ahead?

We need more irrigation canals, not runways. People need rice, not cake.
Live out of your imagination, not your history.

Moingon mog walay airplano? Naay China og Russian Federation nga nanggi-hulat lag kanus-a mahuman nang airport. Og bahin man galing sa kalikopan o kon "environment", PAGMATA NAMO UY!

Unya pun-an pa gyud anang mga POWER RANGER . Kanang dili taga dinhi bitaw!

The new International Airport of Panglao will invites more tourist coming to the
country.

NA MURA MAN PUD UG MUBYAHE KA 3 KA ORAS FROM PANGLAO TO TAGBILARAN.......

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PANGLAO AND TAGBILARAN? i mean, sa oras ba.....   layo ra?

PILA MAN IMOHA ANI?

I wonder why there are those who make personal comments against those who support the construction of the Panglao Airport. It doesn't make your argument against the airport any stronger at all, nor does it add any merit to your position. (LOL)

Because most of us are hiding behind the cloak of anonymity, its so easy for us to bash and malign those who do not share our position on the issue. Too bad.

The way I see it, the Panglao airport will become a reality sooner or later. There may be disadvantages, there may be adverse impacts on the environment, there may be social issues that will be to be dealt with... but the important thing is to push our leaders to do something to mitigate and address these identified issues.

Yeah, if there is really a better place to construct the airport other than Panglao, that place would have been identified already 20 years ago. How come there's none after all this time?

Flatland in mainland Bohol. Can anyone please identify a 150-200 hectare flatland in mainland Bohol that is not devoted to agriculture and food production? Are we willing to lose 150-200 hectares of food producing land to convert it into an airport?

How far are we willing to let Boholanos starve just so the tourists will not be driven away from Panglao?
