Associate Editor of the Bohol Standardwww.theboholstandard.comWho’s the good and the bad guy here?
City Mayor Dan Lim openly expresses his dislike of Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado, while the latter also retaliates in a discreet and calculated way, - a style totally his own.
Last time, the two exchanged stinging barbs, spilling into the air lanes, on who is to blame on the flooding in the city caused by the unfinished drainage outfall.
This week, the “psy war†between the two could again erupt on the issue of the holding of this year’s Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) games supposedly to be hosted by the City of Tagbilaran.
An insider from city hall whispered to me that another whammy awaits the governor, courtesy of Mayor Lim. His advisers are planning to hold the CVIRAA games not here but in Cebu City, particularly at the Abellana Sports Complex.
This will be a frontal insult, like a double-decked slapstick cake thrown into the face of the governor if it materializes.

Why? Precisely because we have here in the city the Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Sports complex that could provide the venue of the games, but the city is looking for another place, and worst and beyond imagination, it would be outside Bohol.
The spin is that the city will still be the host, shouldering incidental expenses in holding the games, but CVIRAA activities will be outside the province.
The reason is that the city can’t accept that the provincial government who owns the CPG Sports Complex would be asking rent for the place while, allegedly, not extending any financial assistance for the holding of the games here.
To dramatize disgust over the provincial government’s attitude, the city government will look for another venue and will not use the CPG complex.
Reportedly, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña had already given his approval on the use of the Abellana grounds on condition that no athletes will use the classrooms of the national high school complex as sleeping quarters so as not to disrupt classes.
Department of Education (DepEd) regional director Carolino Mordeno has reportedly approved the idea.
A top aide of Mayor Lim is making the arrangements with the Cebu City Mayor.

What do you think will be the reaction of Gov. Aumentado on this unfolding event?
Can we expect him to say okay, go ahead?
While promoting Bohol as a peaceful, ambient place to stay, here we are experiencing internal conflicts that the ordinary Boholana cannot understand why.
Naunsa naman ning atong mga public officials?
Well, I myself cannot understand the mindset of people who seemed to have become egocentric, - oblivious of their surrounding. Wa naman silay paki ug unsay resulta sa ilang mga aksiyon!
Truly, power corrupts and the corrupted, most of the time, becomes a fool who thinks he is smart!
Lesson for Today: “When a finger points at the moon, the imbecile looks at the finger!â€
