Marcos Burial Controversy
« on: October 21, 2016, 06:24:30 PM »
Press Statement of Senator Bongbong Marcos on the SC extension of the SQA on the Marcos burial at LNMB

We have been patient for 23 years, we can be patient for a few days more.

Let us give our Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court the time they need to study this case. I am confident that they will ultimately agree to let my father be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani because it is in accordance with law.

We would like to thank all those who took part in the march and those present today to express their support for our family.

When I ran for office in the last elections, i ran under a platform of unity and this show of support for the burial of my father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani is a continuation of that campaign for unity.

We also would like to thank again President Rodrigo Duterte for continuing to support this unifying and healing effort to bury my father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

well, it looks like it's the marcos family that's going to heal. for them to have been "patient" all these years is to be patient to wait for the day when their patriarch would be deemed a hero by being accorded a hero's burial. it is injustice for the thousands of martial law victims.

those who were not around yet in those martial law years will naturally never understand what it was like to go through that 'thingy'.

by the way, the marcos family did not fulfill one of the conditions they've agreed on with then president fidel ramos for the marcos remains to be brought back to the country, vis:

#it is flown straight to paoay, ilocos norte
#he would be given honors befitting a major in the AFP because that was his last rank
#he would not be allowed to be paraded in metro manila
#the burial will have to be done in ilocos norte, there will be no burial in the LNMB

indeed, the family is patient by not burying the body but preserving it in a refrigerated crypt, open for viewing in a family mausoleum. they need him as a hero. no need to ask for forgiveness, no need to mete justice to the thousands of victims.

what is the libingan ng mga bayani (LNMB)?

The cemetery is reserved for Medal of Valor awardees, Presidents and other government officials, martyrs, artists and other citizens for “the inspiration and emulation of this generation and of generations still unborn.”

will this generation and generations still unborn be inspired and will thus emulate marcos? perhaps, given the chance, the marcos family may. as for the rest of the country, go figure.
