Provincial lawmakers are stepping in amid mounting complaints against the government-owned Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) for delayed mails.

Provincial Board Member Aster Piollo asked fellow lawmakers to conduct an inquiry into the problem of delays in the delivery of mails sent through Philpost.

Piollo echoed the criticisms aired by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 50 Presiding Judge Dionisio Calibo who complained on the slow service of judicial notices and other court-related documents sent via the government postal office.

Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala likewise shared the same sad experience on the constant delays in the delivery of mail matters especially those connected with the municipal government’s official correspondence and notices for judicial proceedings.

According to Piollo, the Philpost should address their poor services as this does not only affect government operations but also those of private individuals who expect on-time dispatch of their mails.

Judge Calibo, who had a chance of calling radio station dyRD over complaints regarding the mediocre service of Philpost, said the post office should realize the urgency of mails pertaining to judicial proceedings.

The judge cited instances when court hearings are repeatedly postponed due to the absence of the parties of the case owing to their delayed receipt of the court’s notice for their appearance in a scheduled hearing.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) committees on public utilities and public accountability will be conducting the inquiry on the government postal services.

I have never had a problem with the post office here. i just do not like the ideal that we can send forex boxxes here before going to the Philippines but we are not able to send them from the Philippines to any other country.

It makes sending pasalaboom very hard to send.

There was one time I called Mercury Drugs in Manila if they could ship me a certain medication. NOPE! there is no such thing as overseas shipment! What the hell???

Postal is one of Americas biggest business. Why cant our country invest such?

it sucks big tym..i mean pinas post office  if you send cards with money inside. most likely they'll get lost.

at least for packages, we now have other alternatives using DHL, Fedex, UPS, LBC.

Kel ayaw katingala sa mga seeds nga wa naabot! mostly mga mails nga ing-ana nga naay mga butod2x ila jud na ukabon karon dear! agi sa 9/11.

Jams, I was hesitant at first to send something to my nieces and nephew in Davao but when I asked my sister, she said, grabeh pod ka ate.  ok ra post office dire oi!  So I tried.  I had some pictures and a 10 dollar bill each to the three kids.  I sent the mails to their school because I want to surprise them.  Kaluoy sa Lord nadawat bya pod.  Or basin gamay ra ang 10 dollars para kuhaon.  But anyway, since then, mag suk-ip na ko'g gamay na bills for the kids and so far, so good.  In fact, nadawat nila after 2 weeks.

Nan karon when BOC Bambi and Markus came to visit us here, she asked me to mail postcards to her some TB friends and to their neighbor in Europe.  Pastilan wa jud naka abot except for two.

grabeh pod na jan more two months wa na deliver ang mail.  kay way batasan!

I have seen in some instances where they (the postman) will hav even regular bills being signed for once delivered.

mao jud Graze, swertehay sab, naa man maka abot, pero daghn sab mawala pag naay cash sa sulod. pag greetings card, may Ok kay kapal unya lisod makita ang cash sa sulod pero pag papel lng klaro kaayo ang warta sa sulod.

nakasuway kog sukip ug $10 unja waman muabot oi, wa gani nadawat hasta ag christmas card.  ahong style ilukot ug itumon nga papel labing maajo ug carbon paper para di mailhan hhhhhe.  maro pud ning uban taga post office kay ug baga gani ang envelope na siguradong di jud na maabot.  akong friend gipadalhan nako ug mother's day card nangutana nga daan na ba daw tong nagisi ang ngilit sa envelope kana jud sa kilid kay pamati niya mura kunog gituyo jud gitape an lag balik.  nangutana siya ug naa ba koy gipasukip nga kuarta.  maajo gani kay walay kuarta pero bisan pa, gigisian jud ang envelope gatoo siguro nga may dollar gisukip labi na kay gikan ug US, gi assume na nila nga naa jud na sulod dollar hehehehhe

Last year 2008 january pa gapadala nako ug Class Reunion invitation para sa Mayo 10,2008 kay mao gyud to akong giuli magreunion among batch sa high school.Karon giusa nako ang mga card sa package gipadala sa post office gi address nako sa akong niece sa tagbilaran para siya nalang mo distribute ug maabot na. Pastilan wa moabot ing give up nalang mi ug naabot ang Mayo naabot ko sa Bohol. Two days after ko naabot,ing show up ang akong gipapackage nga invitation adtong january pa.Naangin na raman lagi nga gamay ra ing show up sa reunion kay kinalate tan jud naabot ang invitation ako nalang gihouse to house ug adto akong mga classmates kay sayang akong gasto sa reception ug gamay ra jud mi unsaon ang uban lagyo na ulahi na ug inform tungod sa kalausy sa postal service sa atua.
Sa Davao city walay problema didto ang postal office kay paspas kaayo maabot ang ipadala nato.

it might interest you to know, people, that when the post office vacated its last rented location prior to its transfer to its own building at the old city hall compound near the cathedral, thousands of undelivered letters were discovered hidden in the ceiling of that building. obviously, this is where the thieves at the post office discarded the letters that they had tampered with... i'm just wondering if there aren't any tampered letters stashed and/or discarded in the ceiling of the building they occupy now.
