Increase of Power and Light Rates in Tagbilaran Draws Protest
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:44:47 PM »
Electric and water consumers are up against the impending increase in their bills as the Bohol Water Utilities, Inc (BWUI) and Bohol Light Co., Inc. (BLCI) have applied for their respective rate adjustments.

The Tagbilaran Association of Concerned Consumers Organi-zation, Inc (TACCO) issued a strongly worded appeal for the halt of the rate increases as it questioned the operation of both companies citing that “they are not clothed with legal personality to operate within the city since its “alleged franchise is not in accordance with EPIRA Law and the NEA who is the issuing office has no power to issue your franchise.”

They asked city residents to “join hands in putting a stop to the plans of unscrupulous businessmen to bleed all of us by increasing the power and water rates.”
