A staunch political supporter of President Macapagal-Arroyo was dumped by the Lakas-Kampi CMD ruling party barely an hour into the deadline of the filing of the certificates of candidacy on Tuesday, due to his alleged â€œdisloyalty.â€

Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado was Lakas-Kampi-CMD regional chairman for Central Visayas until he was â€œfiredâ€ by the administration party due to his alleged association with presidential candidate, Sen. Manuel Villar of the Nacionalista Party (NP).

The national directorate of Lakas-Kampi-CMD sent to the Bohol Comelec office an hour before the 12 midnight deadline for the filing of COCs, a letter of revocation of the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) issued to Governor Aumentado as the party's candidate for the second congressional district of Bohol.

Aumentado is on his third term as governor and is vying for his old House seat in Bohol's second district.

Aumentado was surprised when he was informed that Lakas-Kampi CMD president and Sarangani Gov. Miguel Dominguez and secretary general Francis Manglapus revoked his CONA, and instead, issued another CONA to Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes as Lakas-Kampi bet for representative in the second district.

Mayor Cajes is the wife of incumbent second district Rep. Roberto Cajes, who is also on his last term.

Interviewed over a local radio station, Manglapus explained that â€œbased on intelligence reportsâ€ Aumentado has been â€œcovertly campaigningâ€ for Sen. Villar, an act that was â€œconsidered contrary to the party's policy directions.â€

Aumentado and Villar had been allies when both were in the House of Representatives. Aumentado served as Deputy Speaker for the Visayas and chairman of the powerful House committee on appropriations when Senator Villar was Speaker of the House.

But Aumentado denied the allegations, saying he met Villar once in Manila, recently, but he did not make any commitment with the senator.

The Bohol governor blamed the move of the national executive committee on a â€œconspiracy and maneuversâ€ made by other Lakas-Kampi stalwarts in the province, specifically Rep. Edgar Chatto and Representative Cajes, to oust him from the party for their own political survival.

The Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance of Gov. Aumentado was signed by Eduardo Ermita (Party President) and Gabriel Claudio (Party Secretary-General).

The signatures which appeared on the revocation of his CONA were those of the new Party Sec-Gen, Manglapus, and Deputy Sec-Gen, Roquero. There was no signature of the new Party President.

There is no expulsion from the Lakas-Kampi-CMD Party. Only a revocation of the CONA. Gov. Aumentado has elevated the matter to the Party Hierarchy.

This was my first thought too. The Governor was pushing for some concrete action towards the building of the Airport prior to the election period. Just speculation, of course, but could it be that some other people would prefer to turn it into a ghost project?

Hi Ben,

But then again, given the proximity of the elections and transition to the new government, I don't think Panglao Int'l Airport really figures in the political equation now. For one, Arroyo is a lameduck president who is more concerned about her political survival than the promotion of a fringe ally's political agenda.

Even if the budget for this project has supposedly been earmarked already, the implementing bureaucracy moves largely on the dictates of their political taskmasters--which in all likelihood will change hands either to Liberal Party's Noynoy Aquino or Nacionalista Party's Manny Villar.

Whether Aumentado stays on at Lakas-Kampi-CMD or not does not really make a difference when it comes to his pet project. The truth is, Panglao Int'l Airport has moved from the drawing board, to the implementing desks--to limbo.

As of 4:00 AM today more than 40 mayors have signified their loyalty and alliance to EBA irregardless of the party affiliation and just waits the go signal for the "slaughter"(figuratively speaking, not to be taken in context) . What happens now? That's why I vowed never to get back into politics tungod sa perfidy within and without...it's gonna be a killing (politically speaking of course...)

Hagbay ra nang cultural renaissance program sa Bohol Gisugdan na sa panahon ni Rene ug gipadayon ni Gov. Erico. In fact, Bohol received in 2000 a Gawad Galing Pook, the most prestigious award for best practices by local governments, for its cultural renaissance program. Bohol is the envy of other provinces because it is the favorite recipient of grants and projects from the National Museum, National Historical Institute, Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, etc. If ever, Cesar's contribution along this concern will just be another "one of those things".

Mao na sayop ni chato kay siya ang nasulod sa alanganin na hinuon. Ang away ni aumentado ug cajes sa 2nd dist mi kanit-kanit naman pud sa lain district na pabor sila ni aumentado. Ang maayong lider labanan jud sa mga taw ug mayor kibaw sila ug na feel nila ang kalamboan sa bohol sa pagdumala ni gov.

No matter what you say of EBA, has been the undefeated kingmaker in our province. Literally speaking, Gov. Aumentado, using his immense political clout and unmistakable charisma, can make or unmake a man's political ambition. In 2004 and 2007 election, Aumentado true to his promise to LAKAS -Kampi gave GMA a convincing lead over FPJ in presidential race and once more proved to GMA that he could deliver a lanslide victory ,giving the admins senatorial slate an effortless election victory...

Those who orchestrated Aumentados thrown outside of the gate of Lakas-kampi party would suffer a consequence. We should remember how Aumentado dethroned former gov Relampagos, the architect of the Salcon deal...Erico Aumentado is a dangerous opponent. i agree with this, politicians will go when the people had grown tired of them or they have grown tired of their politics. besides, aumentado still has a lot of good years ahead of him to serve his constituents (this time back to the 2nd district). kung buligan balik, well and good kon dili na, aw pahuway usa o na lang ba hinuon.
